Well I will have a nice XBox to play, simply because for some reason my Dad wants to get one.

I like my ps2... although I am yet to play a game that will keep my attention for a very long period of time... but I've only had it for about a week and a half :D

GTA3 is fun... but gets boring if you're trying to do the missions... some of the missions are incredibly hard and require you to "Fail mission, go back, get mission again, attempt mission again, die, go back blah blah blah"

fun for a laugh though.

Devil May cry has some f***ing awesome s*** in it... but it's too easy to get lost and far too hard early on.

I rented Kessen... it didn't come with a manual... it is very complex and gets very boring very quickly...

whilst on the subject, does anyone have any good ps2 games they can recommend to me?

My real problem is that not many people are going to buy a GC even though their games kick the pants off the PS2 and the XBox. And after reading reults of Xbox in asia that certainly puts a dent in Xboxs attraction for me.

My PS2 rocks :) Highly recommened.
I bought GTA3 and its great but a bit tedious at times.
Got GT3 as well and its a fantastic racing game.

Rented - Devil May Cry (Too much like Resident Evil for me to really enjoy it)
Air Combat 4 (f***ing awesome - I started to get into the story between missions but after about 5 they just stopped playing the cut scenes :(

A great system but the games I REALLY want have yet to come out. (MGS2, Final Fantasy Series)

Well at the moment ps2 is a sure bet.

mainly encause it is actually released and has about a dozen or so released or coming soon games that rock.

xbox hardware seems cool, but not enough games to interest me.

GC would probably be a pleasure to play, but no dvd playback and I got a feeling the good games will be few and far between like the 64.

really the only good thing about the GC is that you can play GBA games on it.

Foe the actual GC games themselves, i dont see any must gets yet, if ever. me agrees with cailen that the good games on the GC will be hard to find

Final Fantasy Tactics came out for the PS1 in 1997. It didnt release in Australia/Europe, only in the NTSC territories. I managed to grab a copy on import from America for $90 in 1998. A fantastic game it is, but good f***ing luck finding it, its as rare as hell.

Although wif PS1 at the beggining no one thought about burning games however later on everyone thought about that before they bought it, but do you think it il be the same wif the PS2 (Development of DVD-RW)

I've just got Final Fantasy X Internationl and have just started getting into it. It's pretty damn sweet. Definitely a recommendation when it comes out in Australia.

Also got MGS2 which is pretty sweet as well. Took about 11hrs to finish but the game is so lush, so many kewl things that you can do and the way the story is told is simply brilliant. If you played MGS then you will see heaps of funny references to it.

I should be getting my power adaptor for my GC this week too. I stupidly blew up the original one and I'm so looking forward to finally playing it after holding the controller for ages. Without a doubt the GC is most comfortable controller in the next-gen wars even better than the DC controller.

Also getting Starwars Rogue Squadron 2 which looks absolutely amazing and the fact that we've got 4 controllers, can anyone say 4 player smash bros frenzy!!!!!

It will be a little different atleast.

Since then SONY has stomped down on any sort of mod chips, and will DVD burners get popular before the ps2 burns out?

DVD burners are still too expensive and so are blank DVDs. They wont be a popular practise for a long time.

The only ps2 games I can recomend are Gran Turissimo 3 and, of course, MGS 2. there is not even one sinlge game on X-Box that interests me, which is a shame, as it seems to be a pretty powerful machine. For me, the main bet is Game Cube. There are alredy about 10 titles on it that I want to get, and about 10 others that are soon to be released that I want. I think at least 5 of each will be absolute classics:
- Smash Bros Melee
- Wave Race: Blue Storm *head explodes* - i absolutely skitz when thinking about how good this game will be.
- Pikmin
- Metroid Prime
- Mario Sunshine
- Rogue Leader
- The entire Resident Evil series being remade from scratch!
- and sum mor that i won't bother listing...

right on cam.

zelda will be good and it will be coming out this yeah.. whoo hoo
however when you finish mgs you may be a bit disappointed with the whole scenerio. i wont give it away as its like waiting in line to watch empire strikes back for the first time and some dicks that walked out scream darth vadar is luke's father??? ho would have thought of that!!!

i wasnt implying that because the ending was disappointing (mario64 anyone) that you shouldnt buy the game for its experience but you would think that with the time and effort that is put into the game they could end it off with a bang.

you will get annoyed with raiden. he is soooo stupid. but snake is funny. very funny.

you don't really buy mario 64 for the compelling story-line though =P
you buy it because it's the best platformer ever made. . . ever

Does anyone know if the XBox (with the High Definition Pack) is able to plug into the Sony Trinitron Monitors? If so that would be cool to be able to play an XBox while leeching at the same time, without even having to move.

i would have to say the virtua tennis is one of the best party games on a console. the simple fact that it was an easy game to play yet difficult to master with simple controls just made it compelling to play against other ppl. even if you hated tennis, you couldnt go past it... or nfl blitz for that matter. oh yeah

Soul Cal 2 owns!, now that is a cool party game, it has violence, weapons, chicks and it looks cool, what more could you want

haha cammel, the best "sports" game I've ever played was mario tennis on 64.
Now that's a good party game! Me and certain mates still sit down for a game of smash bros or mario tennis when the time arises -D

yer thats probalby the best thing about GC SMASH BROS AND MARIO plus some other characters on the side.

smash bros on GC rocks. It has all the characters from the n64 version plus a few new ones like ice climbers (back from the nes days) and also princess zelda who can transform into sheik (pretty kewl stuff) also has all these trophies that you can collect.

i like the special movie that they have put together as well which shows off all the characters. it aint some movie that goes for a minute or two, it takes around 25mins. each character gets about 2 1/2 minutes to themselves and the movies are pretty funny.

the game is pretty funny especially if you have been playing since the nes days. just makes you realise how many franchises that nintendo has.

oh rogue squadron is sooooo awesome. its pretty amazing game as is pikman which is pretty fun to play as well.. :D

It is all your personal taste, everyone criticised nintendo for releasing 1 game every three years for the 64 (exaggeration, but it seemed a lot better than the 1xxx games on ps that were about as entertaining as third degree burns, the thing to do is wait for say 4-5 games that you know you want to buy a console eg I would buy a ps2 but there is a gran turismo a ffxi and a gta3 for pc (eventually) and the only game I really want that doesn't seem to be coming to the pc is rez, I would get an xbox... wait no I wouldn't. Anyway I will get a gamecube if it delivers on its franchises and other pretty cool looking games, but right now the gba looks rawkin with sonic, smw and a sequel to golden sun on the horizon...

btw I know I'm going to get flamed for my ps1 thoughts but if I hadnt had played 10 square rpgs on the snes I may have liked ff7-9, xenogears and the like. The same old thing over and over again make me sick and dont give me that stuff about nintendo franchises because they mostly innovate quite effectively.

One thing I am biased towards is the xbox, apart from JSRF and buffy's clevage there's nothing that provokes even the slightest interest in me.

Okay I'll stop now.

btw anyone else win a copy of dungeon siege
