ok i've never done this before so bare with me...

I have a partitioned HDD, can i just format C: and keep D: (the other part) as it is? or do i have to do the whole lot and then re-partition it ?

i just have to make a startup disk from windows right?

and just follow the steps...

btw, how long would it take to format a 4.5gig partition?

p.s, u're sure about just being able to format half my hdd, as in one partition right?

yes i am very sure

make a bewt disk, then boot off that

then type "format c:" without the "" and BAm!

i dunno how long it'll take

It shouldn't take too long to format, 5 minutes absolute tops.

prolly a good idea to burn a ghost of your clean windows install to cd.

it makes "re-installing" all the easier down the track.

NO, you CANT format one partioned drive. You'll lose EVERYTHING@!!!!

STOP DONT DO IT, just find someone with a spare 4 gigs and copy your s*** to their machine.

you can format your c: partition and your d: will remain untouched (unless u fdisk it as well)
