Anyone else get this, or is it just me?

Submit a post, it goes to -> "Your post has been submitted. Please wait while we return you to the forum, or click the link below."

And a fair percentage of the time, it just sits there.
Sometimes clicking the "Back to forum" link it provides does nothing either.

Same deal, this has been broken for aaaggggggges.
XP/Chrome here at work, Win7/Chrome at home. Both never work, either the redirect, and quite often even the link doesn't work.

Posting from http://qgl.ausforums.com -- forgot you can access the same from other places.

Also, why?

Only just tried disabling it before making this thread, to check there was no sneaky popups or some s*** blocking the redirection.
Changed nothing.

I believe it was happening when I used Firefox on this same PC.

I see the PORBLEM. We did a site update yesterday and there's a malformed refresh tag due to a search and replace error that I missed in testing (because I get impatient and click the link).

I've fixed this in dev, just waiting to get it updated on the site; will be online soon. thanks!

AFAIK

The problem I'm referring to is fixed now; can you try again and see if it works for you?

I get this most of the time.
If i double click somewhere on the web page i sometimes get taken back.
But i mostly just skip backwards then do a refresh.

I use IE9 Win7

The test-icles post redirected fine, but the one above didn't.

Sat on the page, and when I clicked "Back to forum" all I see is it very quickly tagging a "cdn.eyewonder.com" URL, then just pausing.

Not sure what that URL is, but when I go to it, it says;

Access forbidden!

You don't have permission to access the requested directory.
There is either no index document or the directory is read-protected.

*edit* worked. Will try some more and see if it's related.

Someone else try this.

1. Make a s***ty post.
2. Delete, login to ausgamer is it asked.
3. Re-post.

When I do this, it appears to redirect properly.

When I reply a lot of the times it says it's been submitted but I have to hit refresh/F5 a few times to be able to see it.

If you're not getting refreshed, can you copy/paste the link on the text 'Back to forum' and paste it here so I can have a look?

Fail you son-of-a!

*edit* The "back to forum" link.

http://qgl.ausforums.com/index.php/439207/?agn=thread&id=3105782&goto=lastpost#lastpost

*note* Does not differ from the URL which was on the link, from a page which successfully redirected.

Next time it happens I will

Oh, it will go past that bit but will still be on the screen sitting at the last person who posted but won't show mine. But if I hit refresh a few times my post suddenly appears. I'll take a screenshot of it when it happens. So far it hasn't yet which is making me look like a liar. LOL

Any chance it fails when someone else makes a post moments after you do, and it gets confused on the 'lastpost' bit?

Nah Hemmy. This has been happening to me for months now. I dunno what it could be. Although I only use firefox so maybe that could be it. I could try using IE or Chrome for a bit and see if it does the same thing I guess.

Still sounds similar :)

When you edit, and it loads you back to your post, it generally isn't synced with the changes you made, until you force a few refreshes.

It's losing sync somewhere, between multiple systems I imagine. (AGN/Ausforums?)

Nah that is just how our content system works - it takes up to 5 seconds for changes you make to get thrown into the various caching systems that we use.

Doing some Googling I see a bunch of people complaining that Chrome sometimes doesn't seem to respect the meta-refresh tags so I blame that

yeh, I don't think anyone else is talking about the same problem you are though.

Rev is just talking about the thing where your post doesn't change immediately (which is by design). Some people are editing their post and I can't tell if they're talking about returning to the post after editing or what.

To summarise:

If you are having a problem that you can reproduce, please list all the steps you're taking to reproduce it, so I can try it here!

i was about to say, you guys suck at QA... how are you posting when getting the issue? there are several different ways to post information.

Devils in the details.

I am making a post.

Edit: I am making an edit.

Extra Edit: Original post appeared after the "Thanks for posting" page (sometimes doesn't show my post).

Edit didn't appear right away but that's what trog said would happen.

Extra extra edit: The extra edit and the original edit appeared right after the "Thanks for posting" page after making the extra edit.

Since you failed at reading what I said.... it also states that clicking the button, which returns you to the thread, occasionally DOES NOT FUNCTION.

OK, this is what I was trying to get across. The pic below is what normally happens when I post. I have posted something but it doesn't show, so I either have to hit F5 a couple of time to make it appear or leave the thread and then come back into it.

Oh Rev, thats normal buddy... i think it takes a few seconds for the post to hit the database .... when you post if you hit refresh it wont be there wait a second or two and refresh again, it's there.

It's always been that way... zzz

Oh, I didn't know that. I figured it was my browser just not working properly. It's weird because sometimes it works instantly and other times it just sits at that screen.

Coolies, well now I know.

As I mentioned above, there's a maximum 5 second wait as cache tables are updated. So if you fluke it, you'll be redirected just after the cache has updated, and your post will appear - otherwise you might have to wait 5 seconds.
