I was tempted but I'm nervous about job security, ahahah. Have to save $$$ to fund my lengthy time off.

It's good though, you won't have probs moving that I reckon.

That doesn't sound encouraging Pinky - your work throwing around the R word a bit at the moment?

Nah, there will be no redundancy. There will be dust and perhaps a wisp of smoke. I'll survive at least until June currently. Just the nature of my business. It goes up, it goes down. If it doesn't go up enough in the good times then you don't save enough to survive the down times. That's what's happened in the last three years in a nut-shell.

Sounds kind of like me, a couple of months ago work just stopped dead. There was no gradual decrease it just stopped. There's usually jobs piled up & overflowing out of the shelves but the last 2 or 3 months there's been nothing. :(

Also why are you selling the phone and how does the unlock work if it's still factory sealed? I take it you don't need physical access to unlock it?

RE unlocking - Apple sell the iPhones unlocked if you buy directly from them. There must be some software lock that Apple apply when they ship to specific telcos.

Spook: I've got an iPhone here for sale?

Apple keeps a massive database of all the iPhones and their lock status. When you request it be unlocked through your carrier, they send a request to Apple to say "please make this IMEI/Serial # unlocked". When you get the SMS to say it's done, you plug the iPhone into iTunes and do a restore - At this point the phone is then unlocked and you can use any USIM in the phone you want.

Thus as I've had the unlock request already processed (like Syco said - advantages of working for a Mobile Teleco) and received the confirmation, the first person to open the packaging & do the intial restore will get the "hi, iPhone now unlocked" message. Easy.

I've got an N97... although it's only slightly lower on the ball-sucking front.
