I've seen a few threads over the past months ripping on itunes...
So after moving to a different main PC and reOSing my iphone (it was running like ass after jailbreaking then upgrading the OS a few times) I set about getting my s*** back on there. Contacts easy, backed up in windows. Apps, more of a bitch cause I'd authorised all 5 allowed PCs so I had to find one I could actually unauth - the rest are on old OSes that have since been redone. Right so now down to the music, that should be easy right? Think again... *sigh* Because the library is synched with another PC it wants to delete and resynch... ok lets do that... BUHBOW sorry half the apps you JUST TRANSFERRED to itunes aren't allowed on this PC EVEN AFTER JUST AUTHORISING IT ON THE SAME ACCOUNT I DOWNLOADED THEM ON and if you proceed I'll delete them from your phone for you. Hrm lets think about that, how about you f*** right off itunes! So I've used floola before and some other stuff but they don't work with iphones. I finally managed to find something that worked... and is only a few meg total. http://www.copytrans.net/copytransmanager.php So f***ing easy, drag and drop, boom updated music is on my iphone without being jerked around by the appstore and useless apple f*****ry. Can even manually select the album art. Obviously you'll still need itunes for OS updates etc, but as a music management alternative it just f***ing works! Just thought seeing I finally had a win with the piece of s*** I'd let you all know on here incase it reduces some iRage for some of you :) Note: there is something called just "copytrans", which isn't free but the "copytrans manager" thing is and seems to do the basic stuff just fine *shrug* |

This is perfect timing. Just got an ipod touch for christmas, replacing mine that got stolen this year. Been playing around with it today and already had exactly the same problem as you - with itunes telling me that s*** about the computer not being authorized 30sec after I just authorized it!! Also managed to wait hours for all my music to get put on it, then accidentally delete half of it when trying to sync the application, and having to upload it all again. Will definitely be trying this out. thx |

Already easier. What took several hours for itunes (installing new versions, adding playlists, syncing, sorting, etc), I have done on CopyTrans since my last post (15min)! |

http://www.getsharepod.com/ I use this to get stuff off - but mostly I use iTunes. No issues with it so far, plus the iTunes U and Podcast syncing is really good. |

CopyTrans is amazingly easy, however I find that a lot of the time after I copy new music onto my iPhone with it, it kinda f***s up and I have to sync it quickly with iTunes to "fix" it. When I say f***ed up, I mean that I can't play any songs. It just freezes for a second then drops back to the main screen.
That said, copying songs onto it via CopyTrans, and then giving it a quick sync via itunes is still quicker than doing it all through itunes. |

Not sure what all you guys have problems with, I just plug mine into the pc and it syncs with my itunes library when i load itunes and click sync. what are you doing thats different?
It is a pain if you have an iphone that has all your content on it and you reformat without backing up your itunes folder, but I just make sure I do that before i re-format. There should be an option to do a reverse sync, seems dumb not to do it. |
