So whats the quickest way to install wow 'from fresh'. Without using CDs/DVDs? I heard you can get the wow trial installer from wow.com is that true? Then just patch it up?

Edit: Bah, beaten. Also, you have have to click the game and then click download PC Client for the battle.net link.

Just copy a installed "World of Warcraft" folder onto any PC and away you go. All done - no patching required.

I even moved my wow folder installed on my xp machine onto my windows 7 machine no problems.

f*** installing from fresh - the short answer is that it takes ages and their is no quick way.

It'll take you f***ing ages to install fresh and get updates. Find a friend who has it and copy their whole folder and dump it in your machine.

Also, if you want to do it quota free, places like internode and gamearena host the trial client.

I like wow in short bursts. I can play it for maybe a couple of weeks and get immersed in the cool massive world they have created before I see through that and realise it is just a spammy version of rock scissors paper.

not anymore; Blizzard have decided the client is unable to be redistributed (despite the obvious wtf of them using BitTorrent as the prime distribution mechanism). We are currently working with Blizzard to official-ise the redistribution process to make it easier for Australians to get.

In the meantime, I'd do what Rev Evil says: find someone that has it and copy it.

I looked at my wow folder the other day, it was over 22GB. Probably should delete all those patch files and the myriad of unused addons eh?

Is that a really super recent thing about the client not being able to be redistributed anymore? Cos I only downloaded it myself off internode just over a month ago, and found it on Gamearena only a week or so ago.
