Did V pick up after the first 2 embarrassingly bad episodes?

Is there anything released in the last 5 years that you don't hate trog?

Trog does seem rather disapproving of the entertainment content discussed on these forums.......must be all that AM talkback radio he listens to.......that s*** will get you angry at everything.

That'll do it - talkback is airwave mind poison.

Speaking of new shows starting, when does Caprica start? I mean, it'll be a poor, barely worthy replacement for BSG, but at least its something. I miss BSG :(

I remember seeing a leaked ep of Caprica a very long time ago and it was boring as bats***. I figured it wasn't gonna be released but I guess it is.

Yeah, I wasn't too impressed by the pilot, but the ending gave me hope and kept me interested in the series.

I can't believe how tolerant people are of terrible television and movies?!@#!

The only thing I can conclude is that people who have never been indoctrinated in the ways of HBO are just unable to recognise good television.

C'mon though, V was total s***. And I'm a massive V fan from way back; love the books, loved the original series. The first two eps seemed like the series was going to be horribly divergent from the original stories, but everything about them was so bad I couldn't bring myself to keep watching. If people say it's gotten better I might give it another go though.

You mean you can't believe how people like stuff you don't, right?

Its only had 4 episodes, but so far it hasn't really changed its direction from where it was heading in the first couple. My flatmate loves it, so hes watched it all so far, I stuck my head in and saw bits of the third and fourth episodes and it really just seems like Dawson's Creek with aliens to me. Thoroughly bland and uninteresting sci-fi.

I don't know about everyone else, but I'd prefer to like something than not like it.

That's funny Khel cos The Chef hated the s*** out of BSG and thought it was a soap opera for geeks and didn't have enough pew pew!

Each to their own, although I don't really get the Dawson's Creek refs, its been a while since I watched it but the teeanger s*** seemed like a subplot to me?

I think I can watch through poor direction as long as the storyline is interesting.

If a show grabs my attention, I'm willing to give it a chance to tell its whole story.

Trog, have you watched Glee? Your thoughts on it?

Having seen and heard nothing about the original V I have to say I've liked what I've seen so far of the new one. I think people who've seen the original of any new show that's redone are disappointed and nit picky about every little thing that's changed ("omfg that's not what happened in the original / book!@#!, this sux").

I don't really care what happened in the old series, the new has been entertaining. I think the last couple of epps were really ramping up.

There's no doubt that HBO do make the best TV around.

I never liked Chuck, seems like the sorta show you'd watch if you were 15. V is average at best.

You should give it a go... Most people who don't like it are of the same opinion. Unfortunately, its extremely well written.

How come that is unfortunate? That sounds like a rare cool thing!

I'm sure there's lots of shows that are well written but are, essentially, soap opera-types... I'm just not really interested in that sort of show unless it's a really good comedy. Is it funny?

Yeah, I guess I haven't watched it all, so I might have a skewed opinion, but a lot of the bits I caught seemed to be about good looking kids dealing with relationships, disobeying their mums, riding around on motorbikes trying to look cool, etc. I don't mind the drama side of it, I kinda like some soap opera and drama in my sci-fi (big fan of BSG, Babylon 5, SG:U, etc), but this doesn't seem like a sci-fi with some soap opera, this seems like a soap opera, with a little bit of sci-fi. At least, thats the impression I got from it.

Its unfortunate for the show that people will assume its "high school musical".

In reality its less serious, quite funny and also extremely witty.

Its written by Ryan Murphy (Nip/Tuck). I think that you can tell the similarities between the two shows.
