I didn't know about this.

Since November 2009, water and wastewater services have been provided under the Queensland Urban Utilities name to the residents and businesses of the Brisbane City Council region.

Brisbane ratepayers are set to receive their first separate Water and Sewerage Account from Queensland Urban Utilities during January or early February 2010.

This means you will be paying a bill to this organisation in addition to the one you pay to Brisbane City Council. It also applies to ratepayers in Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim and Somerset.

It means BCC stops billing for water and sewerage usage, but you now get a bill direct from QUU.

yeah I did, that's why I'm posting, but what I meant is that it wasn't on news.com.au or qgl which are my sources lol

back in my day jim soorley would be on tv walking through a park whilst explaining the benefits, and it would be on all the 'info brisbane' booths.

as a ratepayer, I want my money back for the ridiculous amount of money they spend sending out letters which tell me absolutely nothing about anything I need to know or care about
I read the part that said "it will not change the amount you pay" and threw it in the bin while I was still in the post office

we've been prepping for this one.

- replaced all the main taps (and washers in others) ~6 weeks ago
- yet to replace the leaky toilet
- the upside to the drought it that we can easily see if there's any obvious sign of water pipe leakage out the front (green grass opposed to brown). none sited atm which is good news
- thinking about getting a new meter

we use about 25% more water than others in our area (if the City Council letters are anything to go by). dunno if that's typical of a 3-kid family but I'll be watching the water bills very closely as they roll in next year.
