A Sunday Mail journalist has contacted us asking if we know anyone that met online (living in Qld, or one half from Qld living elsewhere) through interesting circumstances (WoW was the example).

I know this is all the rage and has been for years but I actually don't know a single person that met their other half over the Internets, so throwing it out there - if you or someone you know managed to score online and are still with the person, and are interested in being the subject of an article about it then please holler my way via PM or hit is up at www.ausgamers.com/contact/

Does it have to be a QLD couple? I know a couple down here that are still together, really happy, etc, etc and met through WoW.

I know a girl who met her husband through WOW. He's an American and flew here to meet her. After about 2-3 days they were engaged and got married very quickly after.

I have met a chick online before. Took her out for a drink, took her back to her place and she refused to get out of my car and started crying saying all this s*** about how I wouldn't want to be with her. Not after that I didn't.

Holy crap I'm surprised there are so many met-online stories. I know many people communicate almost only online these days (myself included), but I personally would never had considered dating someone I hadn't met irl.

I know a Couple (She's American, He's Aussie) that met through Final Fantasy XI (Which is the FF MMORPG) but they're Syd based... 4 years later and they're engaged now.

A guy from school met his current wife through an online dating site, but that doesn't seem to be what they're after.

Every now and then I hear about people 'meeting' in MMORPG's, but thats where the relationship stays. Few that I hear of after meeting (if they meet) keep up a relationship for even an average amount of time.

Also, I asume they meant a romantic relationship? Some of the guys that I use to play RTCW: ET against had a couple of 'meet the player' nights where we all went out for a few drinks... Just like the QGL meet ups. I'm also a mate with someone I first met in FFXI.

I met my wife through CS (shut up, it was all the rage back then). I was in Brisbane she was in Melbourne (Shafted junkie or something along those lines). I ended up going to Melbourne for a bit and she ultimately ended up moving to Brisbane. We dated for 6 years and got married 2 years ago. Don't think I would marry someone after meeting them in person for 3 days...

So...the Sunday mail. Isn't that affiliated with gossipnews.com.au ?

Funny it's usually the police and a frantic mother looking for couples that have met online.

- I met my wife @ Qgl Lan ( thanks to Power, Ember and Einstein )

she did the whole ausgamers.irc thing but she got f***ed around. none of us stuck with it

- a mate met his wife on a dating site (now divorced)

either way - it's just another way to make contact with people. certainly better than meeting randoms in bars

I met spook when I was underage on the internets.

Lesson learned, never doing it again the internets is full of predators.

The worst part was getting a job where he worked and learning perl;
