Topic: iTunes App Store Overseas Access

Hi,

I travel quite a bit between Australia and North America. However, when I try to buy some apps (usually from Australia) I get the message "The item you've requested is not currently available in the Australian Store" in iTunes.

Now, the iTunes help file said that iTunes gets its proxy settings from IE, so I changed those to an American proxy, but still when I try to get the app it will give me the same error message about the Australian Store. I have also tried Hotspot Shield with no luck.

It gets very frustrating having to wait several months before I can fly to America and then access it. Is there any way that I can use a proxy (or otherwise) to access the iTunes app store from within Australia?

setup a vpn back to the states, you just need to appear as though you're connecting from the US

I have two accounts setup. Follow this guide to setup an account for any country's itunes store without a credit card:

http://techwiredau.com/2008/09/grab-a-free-itunes-account-for-any-country/#more-643

When I want to buy something from the US iTunes i use my US account and a US IP address. When I want to buy something from australia I use my AU account and an AU IP address

I believe this is against the latest terms of service which they made everyone agree to recently, on threat of not being able to download anything else (even stuff you'd previously downloaded).

You don't even need to proxy your address - just change the store at the bottom of the iTunes store page.

Thanks for the link natslovR. Just came across a free app available only on the usa store that I wanted to try. Link came in handy.
