Last Evo 2k9 Thread I promise. Found a live stream rip of the Grand Final between Japan's Diago Umehara & USA's Justin Wong.

Daigo knocked Justin into the Losers Bracket in the first round in the top 8 with 2 quick victories over Justin's second choice Character "Abel", as he was using Rufus through out the tournament. Daigo went undefeated into the Grand Final, thus only needing to win 2 fights to become champion, where Justin coming from the losers Bracket needing 6.

4000 plus people in the Las Vegas Casino function room, & 24000 people viewing online to witness the rumble in the jungle... stage.. (ok that was sad, i'll shutup now)

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

cause they're the biggest nerds who've played SF and other fighting games for the longest time.

Wouldn't surprise me if it was. Poofter was showing off so much with his standing on his chair cheering, walking away from the controller in between rounds. Expected end however. Daigo is just a SF monster. I'm gonna take a look at the Blazblue fights they had as i've just gotten that game and love it so much more than SF4

Whats this blazeblue jazz i keep hearing of anyway? It's always being compared to SF4 except it looks nothing like it. A quick google makes it seem like a cross between the MvCapcom series and Guilty Gear X.

Any good?

Blazblue released in AU DM?? If so, what console you get it for?

I got it for the PS3 and i'm not sure when exactly it's getting released in AU but I bought a copy off ebay since play-asia had sold out of the PS3 copies. You can still get the limited edition 360 ones which has the 2 CD sound track and a blu-ray disc full of guides from high ranking players on how to play the characters all at no extra cost.

Anyway Blazblue is made by the same people who did the Guilty Gear series, so you were right on the money match fixer. There was some dispute about the GG series and characters so they said f*** it, and made a new series/game. I've been playing it all day and so far the game is pretty noob friendly. 3 attack buttons (weak, medium, strong) and 1 unique button called Drive. Drive triggers different attacks and abilities for each character. For example this is what happens for some characters

Taokaka, the cat woman - Makes her launch herself in the direction your pushing at high speed.
Rachel-Alucard, Vampire - Controls the wind on the stage launching her and the enemy around the stage which can make her hit the enemy multiple times.
Haku-Men, Demon lookng samurai - Brings up his guard for a second that can block any attack pretty much, even the supers
Arakune, demonic shy guy looking dude - if any attack from this button hits, it curses the enemy which causes every button you push to send out a bug to attack the enemy, until they hit you which removes the curse.

I'm finding it much more fun than what SF4 but that is just my preference. Each character seems balanced with the exception of V-13 who is pretty much hated because her unique attack. Not sorry I bought it and in fact i'm buying a Hori RAP3 tomorrow because of it. If you played any of the GG series and enjoyed it, then you'll like this too. Oh and it gets huge points for story mode actually being interesting! They have set it out kinda like a PC dating game where you read along and can make choices on what to do. Depending on what you pick you may avoid a fight or cause one. Taokaka's is quite funny indeed. Also you can unlock little movies as well that seem to tell some story, but i've only gotten the 1st one yet. Was pretty funny though since Taokaka has a habbit of calling 1 of the characters in the game "Boobie lady"

Video of Rachel-Alucard's bonus disc tutorial. Shows every move/attack she can do as well as going into very advanced combos and techs. Starts getting good around 2 1/2 - 3 min.

Those videos have been removed due to copyright bs :(

Just on first impressions of Blaze blue, it doesn't look like to be a real loss for me personally.

It looks very "Japanesey" if you know what i mean, very flashy and the moves look very technical and are a bit over the top. Though Tthe animations are fluid as fuk.

Quality over quantity ;)

Yeah Blazblue is a very japanese fighter and obviously wont appeal to everyone. I'm more a fan of that style as I like speedy fighters. It's a shame it won't make it to australia (at least not for awhile) as it would extend the fan base even more. Yet another reason I love my PS3.

the animations are fluid as fuk

It seems that way on the video. Don't get me wrong it is a very pretty looking fighter, Rachel-Alucard's stage in particular with the bed of roses you fight on with the whole spooky town halloween theme going on in the background, there are a few minor instances where the animation is mabye missing a few frames here and there. But that is just nit picking as that sure doesn't bother me. Give it a week or 2 and i'll be going back and forth between this and SF4 as I try to get better with my new stick. Speaking of that, my HRAP3 arrives on monday when I pay for it tomorrow.

Because IGN bought the rights to distribute / host them as they aren't doing the Evo DVD this year.
