Hey guys. I just moved into new house at Springfield Lakes and I need some internets. I'm using Mobile Broadband at the moment but it's really unstable. I was using Optus at my previous address but they told me that they can't hook me up out here. Anyone live out this way with a good connection? Help. Please.

don't most housing estates have some s*** where the best connection you can get is adsl1 or something? has something to do with the way they're set up, fibre to the estate then copper to each house or something?

where's someone who knows this stuff -.-

edit: also your subject is going to be typowned

edit2: seems there's quite a few threads about problems getting intertoobs in housing estates on whingepool, have a look there:

Used to be that way.

Some are on RIM's, some estates can offer you 100Mbps fiber...
I needed a miniMUX before I could get DSL2 out here at North Lakes.

Optus has a dirty little secret when it comes to your area. Springfield (dont know about sf lakes) has Optus cable available. Optus installed this way back when and worked out that underground installs cost too much and didnt fit their business plan. If you winge enough, you'll get it installed (if it runs past your door). Otherwise they'll wont admit it even exists.

They have customers installed on Optus Cable in Springfield, I know this for a fact.

Are you sure it isnt like, 1 run near the exit of the estate?

I just find it odd that optus would run a cable network in an estate and then not put people on it to charge them money too try and recoup the cost.

I have fibre at redbank plains. Only 10mins from springers. Not sure when or if it'll get to springers.

Cable fibre or fibre fibre? I'm only a suburb away, very interested if there is fibre fibre available!

i heard (from a springfield lakes resident) that optus was set to do cable throughout during development, but some falling out between them and delfin means they didn't actually end up laying the cable in the conduit...

Thanks for the info...I will call Optus's bluff and see what happens (I had a kickass plan with them) Then maybe try Telstra - begrudgingly!

There is 1 estate in Redbank Plains that have fibre fibre which you can purchase through telstra and Internode

Springfield def has Optus cable. I was involved in arranging installs in there in a previous life working at Optus.

Springfield has optus cable (well most of it), it's really fast too because pretty much no one in the area has it. Springfield Lakes definitely doesn't though.

Hmmm well to be more specific, I'm just down the road from the Orion shopping centre (just off Greenbank Atrerial). Pretty sure this area is classified as "Springfield Central". Next exit past Springfield Lakes.

Just to let yous know...I called optus back and they told me that they are not equipped to install phone lines in new homes. SO I'm outta luck with my relocating my kickass plan. Back to the drawing board.
