Hey guys,
My fiance's laptop has slowly been getting slower and slower over the last year. Obviously its a cpu / memory issue, however does anyone know of any good programs that will clean out the computer of any unnecessary stuff/malware etc? Looking for a quick fix here rather than formatting. Thanks! |

Virus Scanner + MalwareBytes + CCleaner. Cleans out viruses/malware/Junk. Although, reformatting may be easier and prove more effective. Make sure to back-up first though. |

Formatting can often be quicker than trying to track down the source of the slowdowns and fix it.
If you want to do it the hard way though, do as vell suggested and add defrag on the end of that list. |

Come back and continue wtf are you stupid@!?@!?!? A couple of "set and forget" scans are never going to solve a performance slowdown like this. A format is definitely the way with the least hassle and most chance of actually improving performance (ie. definite). But yeah I'd probably start by going through add/remove programs and getting rid of absolutely everything you didn't need (be ruthless) and then some of the cleanup programs mentioned above. A program called Autoruns is also great fun for disabling almost everything that has set itself up to start automatically when you boot into windows. |

Once again i find myself wondering why retards are allowed near computers. I am so sick of parents/friends complaining to me about PC performance issues when they don't even listen to what I tell them time and time again. I say if they can't use a PC properly, f*** EM. |

If it hasn't been formatted in a year, I think it's time.
