Wow.

Carpe Diem mofo's

Legendary music producer Phil Spector was found guilty of second degree murder in the shooting death of an actress at his mansion in Los Angeles five years ago.

Spector, 69, who created the famed "Wall of Sound" recording technique during the 1960s when he worked with some of the biggest names in music, stared glumly as the verdict was read out.

Prosecutors said Spector had shot dead former B-movie actress Lana Clarkson at his home in the early hours of February 3, 2003 after meeting her only a few hours before at the Hollywood nightclub where she worked.

Have read lots of stories about him waiving guns around in the recording studio. From memory he once pointed one at one of the guys from The Ramones during a recording session. The guy is messed up.

The telling fact was that none of his famous friends took the stand to say any good things about him.

That'd be fairly scary - a large portion of the list above are dead.
Come to think of it, Phil Spector looks like he's dead too.

I heard a Mark Ramone clip on Triplej tonight being interviewed by Scott Dooley where he says that this is a lie. He said that Spector did carry a firearm but he used to take it out and put it on the mixing desk because it was quite heavy. He said he never pointed or threatened any Ramones member in the studio - but basically alluded to the fact that he might have out of the studio at some stage. Still, he said it was a gross case of over-exaggeration by someone.
