We have a beep on our answering machine...none of our parents can hear it. It's funny listening to them complain about how they aren't sure if the beep has been yet on every single message

I can hear it and I didn't find it annoying at all.

Also, depends on how loud it's being played. I played it after watching an ep of Heroes and didn't have it up that loud.

Hmm

I'm 36 and can hear it _easily_, it's quite annoying cos it clashes with the existing constant similar high-pitched buzzing I have in my ears all the time

piercing? really?

maybe I'm not hearing it, I can hear kind of like a dull whisper (23yo)
it certainly doesn't irritate/annoy me

Yeah, I had to take my headphones off, and my volume isn't up THAT high.

Hehe

I played it again a few times but turned my speakers way up and my head felt like it was gonna implode. I can still feel the sensation now even a minute or so after.

I could hear it 24.

Sounded like I had half a mosquito buzzing in my ear.

This reminds me of the brown note, I so wish that was real.

heh I found this one: http://www.world-voices.com/software/nchtone.html

up around 17000Hz is when it starts fading into the buzzing I already hear and I can't detect it anymore. that trainhorns site one seems to be somewhere around 16000Hz

hehe cloth eared :D where's that auto-insulter when i needs it ! ;D

i actually had the wax cleaned out of my ears a bout a month ago... my right ear was so muffled by this mega lump of earwax :P the nurse gave me a high pressure ear enema & after enough wax to make half a dozen candles came out i could hear so clear again! no doubt this wax coating has kept my inner ear young.. NO DOUBT! ;p

(edit) ooh a new version of autoinsulter...

Thou hideous boil-brained codpiece!

I just listened to it again. Didn't seem as loud as last time, but it was still a somewhat unpleasant noise.

I can hear it. Reminds me of that annoying sound the tv makes even when it's on mute, that my dad can't seem to hear.

I think an audio sample similar to that did the rounds a few years back. I remember my brother telling me that one day everyone was playing it off their mobile phones at school, the teacher had nfi what was going on.

32, no problems hearing it. Occasionally one of my monitors emits a noise like that - very annoying.

17, wasn't that high.

The ones the c***s at school have on their mobile are piercing, and the teacher never hears it. Really gets annoying

I can hear it just fine and my hearing was damaged when I was in artilery. (Hearing protection is for girls, or people that want to hear properly)

Weird, I can hear it at home on my laptop speakers (and holy s*** that is bad), but I couldn't at work on my stand-alone ones.

So I'm 33 I guess and a hearer?

21 and sound cuts out at about 14'400-14'450hz, and at the other end it is 75-70hz.
Though I'm using $5 headphones with the aircon going next to me.

Seeing as - scientifically - most people in this thread are classified as teenagers, all of your opinions are now null and void.
