No it has been deleted - it just wasn't deleted by a moderator. So hopefully Spook deleted it himself, or else we have a porblem.

(normally I'd just delete this thread too without even thinking about it cuz its a rule violator in itself but as we're doing a lot of work on stuff at the moment I'm keeping an eye out for possible bugs or issues that might result)

we've had a few debates about whether users should have control over their own posts to delete them... I think it's pretty obvious that they SHOULDN'T!

i think deleting a thread when the op cant get it right is valid:

i would have fixed the link, but i can no longer get to the original site that i found it due to it being likely to get me fired;

I don't think they should, 90% of the comedy threads end up being deleted by the creator after they sober up and realise what they've written.

yeh I like the digg system of being able to make changes within about 2 minutes of your OP, I think that's fair

I wish someone would delete the "free money for all under 100k" thread. That would be an epic delete.

The problem is once anyone knows something exists. Deleting without a trace is never the way to go, same with edits - that's why I hate OCAU so much, too many tard admins who just censor and pretend like it never happened.
At least here you can still get to content, and on WP there's a marker (but equally s*** admins who don't communicate and you have to ensure you don't offend any one of the 75 or so).

If you didn't allow users to edit and remove their own content you'd have mass rebellion just like facebook

There are apparently also legal questions over usernames dissapearing from posted content, such as when a user is banned or deleted.
