Spray them with liquid nitrogen, move the nest, then when they unfreeze they will go about their lives. Win-win!

Newspaper + lighter.
It's part of the fun getting attacked by a massive nest of wasps. |

ok turns out that 6 turned into 20 but the spray (decided to kill) startled them and flew away, only 2 didn't make it. hope I got enough spray on the f***ers that got away so they die and can't plan their revenge lol :/

Natures revenge is the worst..
I remember one new years sitting around in a mates backyard with tall tree's. Not sure if it was the fire we had but all of a sudden a whole swarm of cicada's (or something similar) started bombarding the house. We had to bail inside cause it was raining bug. |

On a similar note, there were some ants in my (upstairs) room. I don't really eat much stuff up here, so there shouldn't be much food around. After a few days they were still around (mostly just in random places for no apparent reason). I noticed that some of them were coming in/out of a little gap under the window sill, so i taped it off.
After i did that, there was a f*** ton of them around that area trying to get out. Now they're climbing up the wall trying to find another way out. I'm hoping they will all die/move on soon. |

I would of told tree hugging wifey to do it herself without harming them if she though it was such a good idea. Women.

I had ants make a nest in the CD ROM drive of my main computer years ago, I tried to tape s*** off as well but they just used the tape as the back wall of their nest and I got to watch them doing s*** in the nest with eggs and all. Anyway I couldn't work out why they were there or what they were eating until a few weeks later I nudged this little fat cactus I had been given as a present and it collapsed! They'd eaten then entire inside of the cactus, hollowed it out the bastards. Anyway they went away after that, leaving me to clean up the mess of their boozy cactus party. |

i use a deodourant can an a lighter. Once there wings are singed they fall to the ground and are helpless. For far better control use 2 deodourant cans hold them side by side and aim slightly together so 2 sprays form 1 and get someone else to light it up. The flame doesn't go out this way.

yeah my old man used to have a wooden stake with some old rags tied around the top and with some kero and a match, have an authentic roman torch to torch them with, worked well. i used to love it when we got a wasps nest.

Aerosol and a lighter FTW! it's really the best way but also depends on location and other flammable substances nearby.
I recently had to torch 3 nests around my joint, got f***ing pwnd (yellow and black european variety) by them while trying to trim my pom-pom fig trees...my hand swelled-up like a mother f***ing balloon, burn baby burn!!!! I used bayer flower disease spay stuff, seems highly flammable and does not blow itself out once lit and also leaves very little residue. WARNING **** NEVER BREATH THE FUMES OF ANY FLAMING AEROSOL**** |

I used to LOVE terrorising bee/wasp nests as a little kid. I'd get a broom and creep slowly towards the target. Then I would swing wildly at the bastards and then drop the broom and run like crazy. I took a few nests out in my time. |

being tired of the whole spray and get the f*** outta there technique, I found a can of surface spray with a long straw nozel. If you,re lucky enough to have the next close enough to a fly screen you can poke the nozel through the fly screen to spray.
Surface spray works well in killing them because it's sticks like s*** to a blanket. |

I used mortein with the long straw nozzle. I was actually in the bedroom and poked my arm through the almost closed sliding door.. I was looking through the glass and got the nozzle as close as I could to the nest and BOOM! worked like a treat, they didn't come after me cause they were getting owned by the poison. I guess where you use an aerosol can and say you miss a few of them, good chance they'll come after you. Spray disperses nicely.

if you've got a pool the easiest way is to just mix 1 part hydrochloric acid with 3 parts water and spray the little f***ers with a water spray bottle

We had a wasp nest on our back patio for ages, we just pretended like it wasn't there. It sat directly above our heads, and we often saw them flying around the nest, but they never came anywhere near us. We never pointed it out to our guests either, just so they wouldn't freak out.
Though it must have gotten blown down or something, because it was gone after a big storm one night. |

i got a huge paper wasp nest in my garage in a fluro light housing... maybe 100 wasps! i won't knock 'em down till they sting me coz otherwise they do a pretty good job of keeping my garage free of web-building spiders. :D also they are right above where i park my bike so i usually have a helmet on when i am near them.
& when i do knock 'em down i just spray the nest with a water hose until it falls on the ground then stomp on it. the survivers will usually go build a nest somewhere else.. possibly several nests as paper wasps aren't colonies. last edited by demon at 16:48:08 23/Feb/09 |

I watched a wasp and a huge huntsman spider battle it out outside my door one day. It was an epic fight.

heh yeh, i saw this mud wasp carry a huge huntsman body up a brick wall (it was too heavy for it to fly with) & then slowly slice all the legs off so it could slide the huntsmans body into it's mud nest. wasps are the badarses of the insect world... just checkout that 'life in the undergrowth' wildlife dvd!
