This gets repeated in the news about once every 18 months. Nothing ever comes of it. Manufacturers did for a while start adding mini-USB to their phones, but some have again since switched to incompatible micro-USB - I kid you not, you can't charge a Nokia 6500 Classic with a Motorola uUSB charger!

In a statement, Mitti Storckovius, director of environment, devices at Nokia said: "By supporting this industry initiative on common charging solutions, and enabling consumers to choose if they need a charger with every new device or can re-use existing ones, we can contribute further in improving the industry's environmental footprint."

Translation:

By charging the same price for mobile phones, but without including a charger in the box (sold separately or assume you already have one), we will leverage our profit margin significantly on all mobile devices.

what you said pink, I am surprised they haven't embraced this idea years ago!

Nokia the c***s changed to the smaller pin chargers (fair enough it was a good few years back now) and the so called 'spare' chargers were no longer spare!

HeardY - you can get little adaptors for old Nokia to new. They're cheap on eBay.
