depends how big it is as to whether or not its worth replacing
parents had a 105cm rear projection that blew a bulb, had a 10 year warranty and it was like 5 months past that warranty but they still covered it
prior to them agreeing to cover it under warranty they quoted $700 to fix it..

my sony 60 inch waga rear pro lcd did the same thing.went not long ago after 3 years which is how long a lamp will last so ordered a new one cost me like $300 from aysus in qld some where took them 3 month to send me new one but they f***ed up and sent me two so i win in the end.
that will last me till i find a nice 60 inch or bigger lcd

Koopz: I've got a 64cm CRT in need of (what seems to be) a quick repair job. Should I just call up Computer Alliance, or do you have a direct number I can try? PM?

Speaking of CA, anybody seen that new cute little brunette they have working at the counter there now? Absolute stunner and quite friendly too. I normally avoid Computer Alliance like the plague, but I shall now have to rethink my policy on this.

Computer Alliance don't fix TVs, though they do happen to hire an oldskool computer technician who started the trade back in the days when you had to be capable of fixing a computer monitor as well as the little white box that is a pc.

I don't work there anymore Dan, though I will be ringing up to ask for Dave M when my TV dies in the future. There prolly are other TV repair places around, but I'll go with someone that I know and have worked with over time. It wouldn't be an offical 'CA' service job. The chap does stuff that holds his interest in his own time. He really doesn't need the money eh

oh.. he is an oldskool computer tech. being pulled apart and analysed by such an individual can be... uncomfortable. don't take it personally if he thinks you're not worth the time/effort
