Hey guys.

I just moved to Oz few months ago from europe and as a gamer for now quite some time i try to see how gaming life is out there. I actually came across some things i could get advice about. I am a WoW player and recently decided to change to Mac from PC. I know i could get the client and download the 12 gigs from the blizzard's servers, but i was wondering if there was someone out there that own a copy of the games (core/TBC/WOTLK) as a Mac version so that i would just have to install the game quite quickly. After that it would just take me an hour or so to update to the 3.0.9 but save me 2 or 3 days of download for the core of the game.

Cheers !

I don't have a Mac but the easiest way would be to copy someone's whole WoW folder onto some portable HDD device and then dump it back onto your machine. Beats installing.

Or just install from CD. The discs are hybrid and contain both PC & Mac versions the last time I checked.

Get the demo disk from EB or something, cost you at most a few dorras.

They'll probably come in happy meals soon.

All WoW discs are Mac + PC compatible.

Are you sure you will be able to play/transfer from the European servers? We play US servers, so I don't know how you will be able to figure out that little tidbit.

As someone said before, at least buy the trial WoW disc ($2?) which you can find at any EB or Harvey Norman. Then take it in the ass and download the rest.

Yeh if your chars are on EU servers you'll need the EU client. You won't get that on a demo disk locally.

You also won't be able to xfer your characters from EU to US.

If you get really desperate, grab the $2 trial disc, then change the realm list to point @ the EU ones. It'll work, but you might have some problems..

How to you do that? Mine only shows US, Ocean, Latin. The patches are also labelled "us" so I didn't think the client could be pointed at Europia?

You can change the realmlist.wtf file to point at the EU Login servers instead :)

thanks all for advices i'll look into that as soon as possible. I didnt bring with my my CDs from europe so grabbing a trial CD will be perfect. I will keep playing with my friends back in europe as i know this is not possible to transfer toons from EU to US servers. I know it is s*** cause i play with 600 to 700 ms latency but hey .... those are my friends :)

Thanks a bunch for your advices. I see there are some nice gamers out there.
