Harveys used to have one, can't remember then name of it. You'd insert the disc and spin it around with this handle and all scratches fixed. And yeah it worked.

having kids taught me to make copies, store the originals in a safe place, and never let children touch original media.
looking back, Dad had this same attitude to me touching his archives. that said, I had to take the children's Hi-5 collection to Civic Video @ Mt Gravatt last year to have them cleaned up.. I can't remember what it cost - but I'll never go thru that expense again if I can help it. if you have the IT common sense of a 3yr old either keep re-buying your stuff or learn to rip it last edited by koopz at 22:32:18 28/Jan/09 |

having kids taught me to make copies, store the originals in a safe place, and never let children touch original media. That wouldn't work for console games though. OP: Have you tried places like JB or WOW? I know the device you mean and remember seeing it at somewhere like dick smith YEARS ago thinking pffft that'll never work. similar to this? |

Hot tip: don't tilt your xbox and plugin your mic while the game is running, it will scratch your media!
Hot tip: don't ever use toothpaste, it will scratch your CD/DVD even more! JB Hifi have a machine which buffs your CD/DVD back slightly, removing scratches for $3 Haven't tested the game yet, but there the scratches are gone |

I don't know what yous are talkin bout, toothpaste works a charm. Proved it couple of days ago with a fallout cd that wasn't installing. Good as new.
Better, even. Btw, it doesn't get rid of scratches, it kinda plugs em up. But the disc will read perfectly. |

My local GameTraders store has some wizz bang disk fixer, apparently it skims a layer of coating off the DVD/CD. They charge like $4 but it works everytime.
