Guys,

Just wondering if it is possible to pay a fee or similar to keep your bigpond email address after changing service providers.

Mum wants to do this and I figured it would be faster to check on here than to call them

TIA

the "fee" would be keeping a minimum plan active

i used to keep a dialup account with optusnet, was like $5/mo
and it encourages you to tell people to not use that addy anymore, until you get rid of it

you could get it tacked onto someone else's plan for the $1/month for extra mailbox maybe?

Call up BigPond and tell them what you want - it's possible, because I have done that.

It does not require any 'piggybacking' on someone else's Telstra/BigPond account.

The plan is called the "BigPond Mailbox" plan and costs $0 a month on its own, or $1 a month for each additional e-mail address you might have created with your existing plan.

if you're going to do that ^, first setup an email forward in the webmail setup page
often they stay active for years, or until someone else wants that account name

In the dialup days they used to have "the hold plan" which was $5/m with no usage/hours.

I assume they cater for this sort of request with something similar now, as has been mentioned.

CALL THEM

Call Telstra. You guys are funny. Hope you have a speaker phone with off-hook dial and some good reading material.
