Quite a few months back i bought a seagate 1tb hdd.. Ever since it's been plugged it, it's annoyed me. Almost everytime i go to do something on my pc, everything stops and have to wait for the hdd to spin up. What would cause this?
I've tried to find anything to do with powersaving on the hdd, but there is nothing. |

Oh and are you sure you're not confusing it with the usual loadup of the CDROM? Believe the default time most windows have turning off the hdd is like 20 minutes.

My external seagate ignores windows' hard drive power settings & uses its own which is controlled by the software it comes bundled with (oh so homo).
Are you meant to leave external hard drives plugged in all the time? I figure in their little boxes with no fans they'd overheat. Do i make it never or higher than 20? Make it whatever you want, never and it'll never spin down. |
