I've gone to or called every retailer I can think of, and it appears there isn't a copy of this to be found anywhere in Brisbane. I'm looking for the full band pack for the Wii. People still seem to have it for the other consoles (none of which I own) but not the Wii.
I've tried: Big W Target Myer JB HiFi HMV EB Game Mr Toys Game Traders Is this sort of thing common? Seems like a major f*** up as far as I can tell... |

3 days before Christmas and it's a major f*** up because you can't find it anywhere?I have thought long and hard about your comment, and have come to the conclusion it's unhelpful. So it appears that games shops not stocking enough stuff for xmas is common? It seems that this ok? Why are they understocked on the Wii? Did they not expect people to buy it for the Wii? Did they f*** up? Seems pretty straight forward to me. Like the time I went into KFC and they told me they were out of chicken (I'm not kidding), or is that ok too? |

Did they f*** up? It's a question of production. They couldn't produce enough units in time. Don't forget things have to be manufactured still - manufacturers aren't at the stage of assembling molecules at light-speed quite yet. You think they are intentionally out of stock because they didn't want to make more money? Or... |

Is this sort of thing common? Not really, it only seems to happen around the same time of year, scientists have been researching this phenomenon for decades. For some undefinable reason certain products are in demand leading up to the end of December every year, it's almost as if supply of popular products cannot keep up with demand and scientists have concluded that it produces a result called "sold out". Recent Theories put it down to the lunar cycle coinciding with menstrual cycles and the summer solstice. |

No I don't think they did it on purpose, but I think whoever is doing the planning made a mistake. If they understood the demand, then they wouldn't be having their production problem. In fact, just like you intimated, they're losing money because of it, which if I understand why they make them, would be considered a f*** up.
At EB, they said they wouldn't have anymore stock till February (also, the guy seemed really pleased to tell me this, like he was glad). Imagine walking into Retravision and having the guy say, yes, we can sell you a fridge, but you can't have it for 2 months while we manufacture and ship it. Or like my previous example, walking into Kentucky Fried Chicken and having them tell you they can't sell you any chicken till 10am the next day. Judging by the reactions on here though, it appears it's ok to not make/stock/ship enough of something to sell? Seems like an odd reaction to me. |

We're talking about a game that was only just released - not like they had 6 months to sort out some large scale production. They probably already broke some sort of Guiness World Records producing the amount that they have, just to sell in US, Europe and Asia - much less little piece of s*** Australia with no population. |

I understand you're being sarcastic, but I don't understand why supply can't keep up with demand? Why not? Didn't someone realise that they weren't going to make enough to sell? Was the cost of producing more from a plastics factory in China going to be prohibitive? I may be being naive here, but this has honestly never happened to me before. I go to a shop that sells things, and they sell me things. I had to wait 4 weeks for my new car, but that was because I had extras that needed to be fitted and someone to paint one in the colour I wanted, which seems fair enough. A $40k car isn't a $300 consumer item though. /me shrugs /me thanks funky |

They probably didn't want to over-produce, i'm sure they've looked at market trends and come up with production figures to go on, but theres always a product that no one ever expects to be in such huge demand to compleatly out strip supply (see above elmo).

I searched for ages to get a copy on 360. I'd pretty well given up (this was a week or two back) but I wandered into the city at lunch time and got the last copy from JB. Other retailers had said 'You've got no chance now until after Christmas'.
I would try: WOW Annerley - When I looked there they had quite a few copies and said it was a slow mover compared to the 360. Incredible Vegetable was there a day or so back and I'm pretty sure he said they had it in stock for the Wii. I think he also mentioned Target at Buranda had it as well. |

Or like my previous example, walking into Kentucky Fried Chicken and having them tell you they can't sell you any chicken till 10am the next day. I worked for KFC in my teens years and this does happen (although not too often). Sometimes the suppliers would have troubles delevering, or you could get REALLY busy and just run out of product. Sometimes the managers would just f*** up the projection numbers and order an insufficient amount for the next day. |

Sometimes the managers would just f*** up the projection numbers and order an insufficient amount for the next day. stores run out of chicken for this reason all the time: they dont have magical unlimited chicken supplys and you obviously dont want to sit on mountains of chickens; i regularly had to do runs to other stores to pick up crates o chicken when i worked at kfc; |

The explanation I've read on this phenomenon is: You have X factories producing products. You know you will have a spike in demand at Christmas, but what about the rest of the year? Increasing your factories to X+1 costs a lot of money and it will let you sell product to every customer over Christmas, but then in the new year you've got a factory you can't use. Is the cost of putting another factory online and the losses from that factory sitting idle for the rest of the year offset by your Christmas sales? I assume not for this product. |

If I was in the Business where I may be asked to peel 3000 potatoes in 2 mins, I would already have a factory with 1500 kids. I would get them to peel a potato per min, that is more then reasonable. Just a quick phone call and BAM instant peeled potatoes! |

I'm looking forward to Christmas becasue I know my kids are getting GH:WT!
It's great that I can finally buy them a present that I get to use as well. I am truely surprised at how fun this game is, and I've only played the demo without the instruments. |

They probably didn't want to over-produce, This game is a goddamn fad. The beauty of fads (not the lolly) is that the item costs $1 to produce and sells for $100. So any smart businessperson knows that you order several times over your expected demand knowing that you only get one shot to make money out of the fad - One 4 week period in December. And the last thing you want to do is run out of stock for the lemmings to buy. After that the fad is old news so if you have under-ordered or under-supplied your fad you are a f***en failure. |

My sister in law got it at GameTraders in Indro. I spoke to them 2 days ago and they said they didn't have it! Sheesh... And sorry XeK :/
Also, Guitar Hero isn't a fad, this is the 4th iteration of it. Sounds like a pretty well established game to me! |

Ebgames at indro were selling the full pack for the wii this evening for like 140 (HALF PRICE MEGA SALE) or something, from what i could see they still had stock (or they just had empty boxes allllover the place) i think it was 170 for 360 and 165 for the ps2 or something..

Yeah, I saw that tonight. My sister in law had already picked it up from Gametraders for 300 :( They had someone that canceled on a lay by. I spoke to the guy at EB indro last night, and he said no more till February, I asked them about it tonight and he just shrugged.
