hey all,

if anyone's looking for something to do tonight, come to Cesars Nightclub at or before around 11pm.. There's a local dancer named Bang who's called me out to a Popping battle and it's been made into the main event of the night.. He's got an army of friends coming for crowd response so if anybody wants to come and help support me that'd be rad :D

I find it hard to not laugh at this sort of stuff. I mean, im sure you all take it serioulsy but realy, its just dancing?

What happens if you lose and therefore lose your "street cred", can you not walk down main street or something, its just seems like its all a bit of a joke.

In dancing there's politics just like anything else... There's also a story behind this battle..

There was an event here in Bris a few weeks back called The Remix, where they had a short popping competition in which 8 of my students entered. This guy Bang (the one who called me out) was standing in the audience and said to some friend of our studio's director "these poppers are wack!" (it's a word that means really bad). After that, he called me out to a battle which turned into the above event.

In terms of "street cred" for winning/losing the battle etc. This guy Bang is copmletely unknown in the popping scene here in Bris since he does a style called Krump. On the other hand, I'm sort of known as one of the leading popping instructors around Brisbane. So basically, for me to lose that battle wouldn't have been very good for my business as a teacher. Dancing is a competitive industry just like any other for earning money so battles/competitions/tournaments etc are bound to happen.

Now that that's all been said, he got dominated haha :P

I'm still trying to con my 6 8yo into coming to one of your beginner classes. He loves doing the robot and general dancing etc and was pretty impressed with your performance at Roma Park earlier this year.

not sure, i don't think a lot of them turned up lol.. but a lot shook my hand after so they knew he lost it
