I just got off the train on my way home at dutton park and saw this massive tower of thick black smoke down near yeronga or rocklea. Not your average house fire, this thing looked big. I haven't heard anything on the tv or radio since getting home. I was wondering if anyone else has seen it/knows about it.
I took a couple of shots on my mobile but i'm failing @ finding the cord to upload.

Looks like it could be another warehouse fire along sherwood road.

Scrap metal yard

What is it with scrap metal yards and fires? The Simmsmetal property out at Hemmant went up about 12-18 months ago.

I drove past it about 45 minutes ago. Could clearly see flames from ipswich motorway. A mate of mine works less than a block away from there, but he's not answering his phone, the bastard!

Could smell this in spring hill all day.

Yeah, we come down fairfield road and we could see flames from there, must have been pretty serious, fire dude on the radio said it could take 2-3 days to put out completely becuase of the stuff that is burning.

Oh, I wondered what that fire was. Isn't this like the third factory fire over in Rocklea/that area in the past year and a bit? There was a mattress factory that went up earlier last year and another fire over there later on last year if I remember correctly. It's a bit fail really.

smoke everywhere on my bus ride into the city today. From about the Holland Park busway station to Buranda you could see it in the air, everywhere. It smelt along the lines of what I'd think burning car would smell like, mixed with sparklers.

oooo sparklers. can't see nothing of it on the north side, but there was this one time a house burnt down less then a block from my primary school, was interesting.
