This is one of those times that i think the person(s) lying should get the sentence that the person on trail would have got.

Without that video he could have gone in for 3 years. The cops should get the 3 years.

Might teach people not to lie in cases like this where someones life (or a decent chunk of it) is on the line.

pity this isn't limited to the states, my cousin got arrested for saying to a cop that his behavior in dealing with a homeless guy drinking in public was overboard (which it was) got arrested (for no reason)... forcefully to and was taken to court, cops got smashed by video evidence and he got off and the cops only got a slap on the wrist.

Errr, unfrotunately there's more to the story than this - he had actually done something to provoke the cops, but yes their reaction was well overboard.

What's not in the video was him yelling something along the lines of "I'll have your badge for this, you're all pawns in the game"... or something to that effect.

But even still, they went way beyond their authority in this action, and what's the bet that without this video they'd have even denied any use of extreme force etc, and got away with it too.

Edit: Oh, sorry, turns out the one I'm talking about is a different incident altogether.

Yeah, the cops in this one deserve to go to jail.

While I agree with this in theory, the result would be they just go to greater lengths to forge evidence, as it's their own knecks on the line. Thus you'd end up with more innocent people behind bars.

pretty sure they aren't allowed to just go smashing people for what they say

obviously threatening to hurt someone or something similar is a bit different.

considering they didn't interview any civilian witnesses i say the entire thing was fkn dodgy as s***.

looks like the cops provoked him first by calling him names before they even revealed they were cops.

Put them in goal, ffs.
I know a lot of cops have got it pretty tough, s***ty pay (for the job), everone hating them, etc. But the position seems to attract a lot of c*******s that are only in it for the power trip.

I heartilly endorse the beating of cyclists furthermore, I also heartilly endorse the prosecution of over zealous law enforcement going too far.

yeah, i met a cop at a party a few weeks ago and he spent the whole night going on about "my job this, my job that...i loe my job because i get to yell at people and put them against walls and call them f***wits and there's nothing they can do about it."

leaves me felling all warm and fuzzy

It would be nice to see them charged with purgery for claiming they have no idea how the guy lost his teeth after smashing his face into the ground. Plus any other lie they told under oath.
