Heading out to buy a Wii this morning + 1 game... what should I get.

I was just going to do a bit of impulse buying, but I assumed it would be something like Zelda, Mario Kart, Mario Galaxy or perhaps RE4 since I never played it.

What's the control system for Mariokart, do I need an extra controller? It's not lame motion directed steering is it?

Loved all previous versions, some of my favourite games.

mariokart/zelda/metroid/no more heroes is good fun as well

you get options with mariokart on how to steer

luckily they dont force you to do the lame steering wheel thing;

works a gazillion times better with nunchuck for steering and wii remote for jumping/sliding:

It all depends on what kind of game you want. Zelda, Metroid and Mario Kart are all top games.

If you've never played re4, I would say definitely pick that up, you might be able to get re4 plus one other game cos re4 wasn't even a full price game when it first came out on Wii so it might be even cheaper now.

Mario Kart Wii is the best version of Mario Kart to date imo, just beating out Mario Kart DS.

And RE4 is a must-have. The Wii edition is the best version of the game to be released, and the controls with the Wii remote are awesome. As Khel said, it's pretty cheap. I got it when it first came out last year some time for about $70, so it'll likely be even cheaper now.

I'll tell you what not to buy - Zelda & NFS:* .. both are s*** games.

My must have is Guitar Hero.

You could get the Wii, then head to JB for their Wii Zapper + RE: Umbrella Chronicles + RE4 bundle for $149?

Otherwise Metroid, Mario Galaxy, Zelda or Smash Bros are worth the purchase.

I found Zelda to linear and repetative. I played it for quite a few hours but when I couldn't get past point X because I didn't jump up at point Y I got the s***s.

I've not played it but Zack & Wiki gets a good writeup. I've seen it for $60 at JB at the moment.

It's like a point 'n' click to solve puzzles affair that went extinct years ago.

Alien Syndrome, it's fun co-op. As is Resident Evil - Umbrella Chronicles. The Trauma Centre games can be fun, I'd suggest you rent them before you buy them in case you don't like them.
