just bought a suit, and i can't seem to find a shirt that fits me. haven't had to wear a tie ever (thankfully) and now im finding it impossible to find a shirt that has a size 42 neck and like 82ish arms, but doesn't have massive baggage underneath the arms. i'm like 6'0 90+kg, has anyone here had some custom shirts done?

you dumbarses...

how'd you like my foot - up your arse?

do what the rest of us have done? open up the Yellow Pages and find a tailor? These people (remarkably) have the talent of measuring you up and making clothes that fit you!

I know this for a fact as I was once an apprentice who spend 12+ hours a day making suits for peeps who thought that their tummy was the same size as it was in their uni years, but their title added 30 kilos to their beltline :/

just pay the bucks ya fat phuks

d0mino how much can you expect to pay for a tailored suit from Mitch Ogilvie with a decent super 150+ wool?

You need to find brands that do incremental sizes. I wear Van Huessen shirts for work and you can get them in all different shapes and sizes. I'm 6'6 and wear 41-94. There are a few other companies that do it as well from memory.

You might also want to check out ShirtStudio. They've got stores in Indooroopilly Shopping Town, Paddington (near the Kookaburra Cafe, iirc) and in Tattersalls Arcade.

Bloody nice shirts, but they're a bit hefty pricewise..

There are standard sized van huessens and incremental sized ones. You'll find you'll need to open your eyes and look at the tag for the exact size you want 8-|. Or if that's too difficult, walk into mens wear section in Myer in the city and say, "Yo, I'm short with a fat neck, hook me up with a shirt".

Gaz: left or right hand?

LOL, lern2shop, fatneck.

Yeah, I'm 6'5 and find it hard to find clothes that are long enough and fit around the shoulders etc. I'm gonna start checking out Myer etc, would save me time.

At the risk of coping all sorts of abuse I thought I would weigh into your discussion on shirts. I am 6'7" myself and always had problems with getting shirts that fitted me and the tailored ones I had made were always pretty poor quality and very expensive. So I set up www.bawdenbespoke.com to answer all those questions.

Now that I have spent the last two years measuring people for custom made shirts I realise that no matter what shape or size you are, you are always sacrificing something. Either the collar is too loose or tight or the sleeves are too short or long, or the biggest complaint that they are too baggy in the body.

The process of making a shirt is quite complicated and there are around 15 different machines that we use to make just one shirt.

Using the self measurement guide you can provide us with all the proportions we need to make a perfectly fitting shirt (and we double check all your measurements). We have also set up a couple of places in Brisbane where you can get your measurements taken. I would recommend Tess Fashions in Queen St Mall. =They are lovely ladies and they also have our fabric samples there.

If you think you can fit into a standard size then go to www.tmlewin.co.uk. They make a very good shirt and you can pick them up for a song.

But I would recommend that you take a little time to get us your measurements and your shirt will fit perfectly with quality that you just cannot find with a local tailor. It will take you a lot less time than going to a shop and once we have your measurements all you have to do is log on and order at will.

I miss those Lowes adds.

As others have said Vanhusen are a reasonable value shirt. I got a few recently at Rivers on clearance for $15. They fit me sweet, winnar.

Send them over your measurements. Got 4 suits made here when I was in Hoi An for about 130 each. Probs more for shirt included.

Hoi An is the bomb for tailors. It is a whole town built around tailors and artscrafts.
