Topic: Second Hand Cycling Shops?

I remember there being a post about cycling a while back. Someone said there was a 2nd hand shop within 10km of Brisbane that had great deals... Anyone know where it is?

I've been looking at getting into cycling a bit more. Got a road 'like' bike with the thin tyres and dropped handlebars and all but the POS is made out of lead, has s***house gears and I dont have any cleats/shoes for it. But yeah, dont want to spend 1.5k on something that I'm not sure I'll continue with in the long run, so please help me out!

Alos, anyone got any tips for someone buying a second hand bike?

Cheers

I think Ryders have a dedicated second had shop - or at least part of one of their normal shops has second hand gear. Or as Mooby said, try E-Bay.

The better bike shop I've found on the Southside is Riverside Cycles on Fairfield Road at Yeronga. Nice people and good service. (Unlike Ryders at Macgregor)

orly? I'm racing a TCR C1 atm :D

Ultegra FTW, can't believe how nice this bike is to ride.

qmass had a TCR C0 for a while I think, now that would be rape.

Search the trading post, I got my first bike (Trek 1000, non-carbon, Shimano Soarer gears) for $300... I ended up keeping that bike through E/D/C, upgraded to carbon only after I got into B grade.

Good smooth gears is what's important, heavy bikes just build character :) $1.5k second hand would get you a killer bike.

there's a hippy bike recycling shop that gives money to charity or something at west end somewhere.

Just don't get a hybrid or some s***.

Find a 2nd hand Trek or Giant with decent gears, probably look for something with Shimano Soarer gears at least, if you find a bike with 105's in your price range that would be a sweet ride.

Doesn't have to be carbon if it's in good condition and you get some lock ins.

look for a good frame, then components. you can upgrade components easy. like chub said, you can get 105 in your price range. this was the nuts only a few years back.

Cell bike going on eBay. Guy claims it's brand new but bought the wrong size...

Alloy Frame
Carbon Forks
Shimano 105 everything....
R500 Wheelset

59cm frame is a decent size for me at 6'1" i think...

No bids on it yet...New one is going for $1200 new... but available for $850.

What do ya recon?

Action Bicycles at Chermside have some second hand bikes. Talk to Cameron and tell I sent you down and he'll look after you. If you want to stretch, I have my Carbon mono, carbon wheelset, full durace down there for sale as well.

The only thing I buy from second hand bike shops is used womens cycling shorts. Preferably ones Obes has pre-owned as well.
