We went on this cruise where they dump you on this island for the day and it is all the piss and carva you can drink in 1 day. I highly recommend it.
I can't remember what it was called but the crew were great and it was just a relaxing and peaceful day. We also did a sunset cruise. This was over rated and exy considering the food you got. If I were to go back I would stay away from the towns as you literally get molested over there if u walk down the street by people trying to sell you s***. If you do want to walk down the street I would suggest you stick your money in your arse or something just incase you get into a situation that you can't get out of unless you fork over some coin. |

Make sure you check out Bounty Island (if you are a 18-35 y.o. party kinda guy)
Avoid Sunrise "resort" unless you are keen on roughing it ie. no hot water, no amenities, backpackers and communal dining. Many of the islands are pretty rough and ready the further north you go. Sunrise is on the opposite side of the island that is home to the Blue Lagoon (yes the same as the movie) and I would definitely look at staying at the Blue Lagoon resort (can't remember the name). Unless you are dirt poor or keen on sleeping next to god knows who always go for Double room accom and not dorm style on the islands. Avoid Nadi unless you like getting hassled for cabs every 5 metres. There really is nothing much there, although it does give you a bit of culture shock which is what some tourists are after. If you do go into town watch out for the "street boys", Fiji's muggers who prey on tourists. Stick to the main street and you'll be fine. Don't make friends with the cabbies or they will stalk you. Bigtime. Get out onto the islands to see the real Fiji - I highly recommend Naviti(pretty basic but awesome people) Alcohol is pretty pricey. Castaway looked good although we didn't go there. Wanna taki boat cruise was apparently awesome according to other travellers. If you want proper Kava you need to seek it out from the locals. The Indians in Fiji own many of the businesses and are predominantly in the towns/mainland but the Polynesians (what you would expect Fijians to be like) are mainly out on the islands. The polynesians are the traditional landowners and as such I found them to be much more interested in promoting Fiji as opposed to sucking every last dollar out of you. Have fun, Fiji is great and I would recommend going there. |

Why not just head over their and ask around for the best things to do?
When i went to Jamaica for a 1 month bong bender. We just asked the locals where all the best places to visit were. Once we had packed up our bongs (d00b and I) and ground up the mary jane, we headed off for the time of our lives. |

We went to Mystery Island, with Captian Cook Cruises Was pretty awesome, we also stayed on the island in these little huts over night, and it was sweeet, you got a 3 course dinner (a WHOLE LOBSTER EACH), and we got up early and went snorkling out where many people usually dont go. Having an island almost to yourself (the owner stays there with you, with the cook and another guy and cooks ya dinner/breakfast etc)
Was like $250 each for the overnight stay, but well worth it (Day cruise, snorkling, lunch (HUGE buffet), kayaks, your own little hut for the day, massive dinner, overnight, huge breakfast (eggs, bacon, ceral, toast, fruit etc) then you get the whole next day as well) (PS if you do the overnight....TAKE INSECT REPELLANT! We got EATEN ALIVE before we put some on) We also went on the cave tour....forget who with (Rosie Holidays?) and that was pretty interesting as well! A good day, nice walk, rafting, into a historial cave, karva ceremony etc etc They f***ing love their karva over there too! last edited by Fireblood at 21:06:42 24/Jun/08 |
