Dunno if this has been posted b4 but here is a tube of some gun nuts having fun blowing up s*** and teaching their kids the joys of belt-fed machine guns.

It was probably a rock or debris, not the actual bullet coming straight back?

I'd say it was the bullet. The object he hits doesn't move at all.

ricochet seems far fetched, even if the dictionary definition says its possible

Definitions of ricochet on the Web:

* Rebounding of shot from the ground at a very obtuse angle.

Definitions of obtuse on the Web:

* of an angle; between 90 and 180 degrees

Yeah just the way it came almost straight back at him (bounced in front) seems counter intuitive to a ricochet, whereas the target breaking apart or a rock from the area behind the target coming back seems more likely, is there an explanation of that video that says the bullet was found behind them or something?
That said i know nothing about ballistics and bullets coming straight back off hard targets may be very common.
of an angle; between 90 and 180 degrees
Not to pick on you when you are backing me up, but he definition doesnt show a statistical distribution of where ricochets come in between those angles, and using angles of >180 doesnt give any extra info as they can just be represented between 0-180 off the line anyway.
So basically you have 0-90 which i assume they call a deflection (?) or a ricochet which is 90-180, or it goes straight through.

he was hit by the bullet. the whining noise is the bullet spinning lengthways.

heavy round too, i bet he had a headache.

Also, get over the US using guns, it's getting old saying "only in america"

it tends to happen in iraq too.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ricochet http://www.springerlink.com/content/m9rjrud2a3qa8kp6/

I guess the moral is don't shoot at solid targets, boards don't hit back but steel plates can shoot back.

the bullet has hit the steel and gone up and back in a big arc as opposed to come straight back at him like some people have suggested

If a bullet comes straight back at you, that's 360°, not 90-180° as indicated by a previous poster.

Eitherway, it is way too early in the morning to be on these forums.

I think you need to go back to school?

Face the computer, do a 360... where are you facing?

As previously stated, it is way too early for me to be browsing these forums, I guess I took the angles like this:

Because you turn 360 degrees and walk away.
