Probs would hit up
- full moon party NYE Koh Pangang
- BANGLA ROAD for the lols in phuket
- Royal City Ave in bangkok for the yuppy teen 'i wish i was korean/nip' clubs which is fairly lol
- Patpong/Koh San Road/Sukhumvit Road Bangkok
- Silom District Shopping Bangkok
- Pretty much just chill out in samui, go check out Koh Pangang and Kho Tao.
- Day tours are definitely hit and miss you _will_ get ripped off. Think of the Japanese tourists on the gold coast and thats the situation.
- If you decide to go snorkeling make sure you do it at Kho Tao and not the s***ty marine park reserve.

Pretty much Koh Pangang is the shiz bomb and I wish I spent more time there. Only downside is it is impossible to get a room on the main beach during fullmoon week. If you are like me and hate tours and s*** I just liked chilling out all day and pissing on at night. I spent about a month with a mate pretty much just playing pool all day and hanging out plenty of places to do so. Top it off with some awesome food at one of the many food markets and restaurants.

It was my second trip over and I didn't do much for the 2 months but I had a f***en great time chilling out.

Just picked Dad up yesterday, he spent 10 days in Thailand, came back with lots of cheap knockoff goodies.

I'm just browsing through his pics and saw this

Crossbows attract strict containment laws now...on par with firearms.

Swords that have a genuine edge need to be registered and secured (in most states now iirc). Swords that are heirlooms or have historical value are now also required to be registered and locked up I believe.

Locking up means a cabinet that is not seethrough in any way, and is fixed to the floor (cannot be tumbled). I'm paraphrasing laws here, which may have changed again. I'm just remembering the s***e I had to read up on a couple of years ago after a crossbow incident and a sword incident happening in two states within two weeks of each other. Pollies went nuts.

Btw, swords that have a false edge, and have always had a false edge are free to be displayed any way you want, and do not need registration.

Buggered if I know about knives tho. I believe they're fine if they're not already banned (butterfly knives, for example).

I think they can only be single edged and not concealable either.

Have fun seeing elephants on the street and going down to 7/11 to buy bottles of alcohol.

P.S. On suits, I got a nice suit tailor made over there for $350 w/ spares. A+++ would buy again.

Dad came back with (all tailored) 3 suits, 20 shirts, 2 jeans and leather jacket. He said they go to extraordinary efforts to make sure you're happy... looks like really nice and quality, costed a decent whack more then s*** in the markets he said.

Also he got like 10,000 items of knock off surf gear which is pretty bodged quality compared to the stuff mentioned above, but for like $3 a pair of board shorts who can complain?

Heh, monkeys.

The shirts will fade real fast and you'll be throwing them out in a month or two. I have a pair of boardies which has lasted me 8 months though.

my suit lasted a few years
had it made in Bangkok though, not at one of the more-dodge-looking tailors that f***ing hound you every time you leave your hotel ($300 and it came with 2 x pants, 2 x shirts and a tie + jacket)

the people who rent the scooters will want to keep your passport while you hire out the bike
*DO NOT* under any circumstances let your passport out of your sight, there's always another scooter hire place

almost no scooter joints will let you hire without handing over your passport. Maybe if the place you stay has scooters.

You have there scooter... they have your passport.
