http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v467/metalchick666/Random Pics/bacon_salt.jpg A link went around at work about a month ago about this stuff (along with numerous photoshops) and 12 of us all put in and ordered a years supply which worked out to be a bottle of each flavour (original, peppered and hickory)per person. When I first got it I tried a BSLT (Bacon Salt, Lettuce and Tomato sandwich) and it was f***ing revolting, after that I made scrambled eggs and Bacon Salt which was ok, but not great. Midda said he'd tried it on some steak and said it was awesome but I was hesitant after the BSLT and didn't wanna ruin a good steak with it. We had BBQ last night and there was one rump leftover so for lunch today I threw it back on and reheated it and then topped it off with bacon salt (original) and it was f***ing awesome, highly recommended. Yeah, Bacon Salt is rad. We made stew last night, and I used some in there in place of regular salt. Absolutely awesome. I've tried it on steak with a fired egg on top too, which I also thoroughly enjoyed.
I first tried using it to season steak before cooking, which was pretty much useless, because it ended up just tasting like regular salt. Not bad in any way, but you may as well just use regular salt in that instance. |

I ordered a bacon burger in dubai ... turns out it was beef bacon if thats even possible, so hey maybe this will change the world :D

yeah beef bacon is possible. Bacon is cured ham that's smoked. No reason you couldn't do the same with beef ... in fact you can, and the result is called pastrami. I made 5kg of it the other week, is bloody tasty!

Does anyone know where I can get a genuine Chicken Salt like the bright yellow stuff they have at fish and chips shops? The so called 'chicken salt' from the supermarket is crap. Where do I get the nasty fish and chip fluro yellow stuff?

It says on the site and on the bottle that it's Halal and vegetarian friendly, so it's safe to assume that there's no pork in it. It still tastes like bacon though.
I spose its not to change the flavour to bacon but just to season it a little bit. Like putting pepper on it or whatever. This is the right idea. In my experience, it hasn't replaced any flavours with bacon, it's as Trog said, a seasoning. It makes my mashed potatoes taste phenomenal. Call it disgusting if you want, but you'll never really know until you try it. |
