Until recently, whenever we would go into the city after hours (either after 6pm weeknights, or on weekends), pretty much every carpark would offer a $10 flat rate for parking (we mainly parked in Queens Plaza). Recently we went in, and got stung $14 for parking in Queens Plaza for parking between 8pm and 11:30pm on a weeknight. After a quick google, it seems that most places are charging upwards of $18 on a weekend for parking. Anyone know of a good cheap place to park in the City nowadays if we just wanna go shopping on the weekend or something? |

Get there early and look for spots on the streets. Last week I got lucky and didn't have to pay a cent and was only a block from Queen St mall. There's a couple of construction sites around the place, so check the signs out the front really carefully, because most of them you can park out the front of.

Though seriously, Saturday roughly 95+% of Aus Post spots are up for grabs, Sunday 100% are... just suss them out and you won't be disappointed. You never get towed on a weekend, fact. |

Aus Post spots? Is this common knowledge? Where are they?If it's offstreet, it's good for weekends... fact. Hangar boxes or Post Offices are no go, you will get owned in the CBD. There's literally 30+ in the CBD and 10+ every suburb... you will never get towed in these spots. |

I think the open-air lot on Herschel St is $5. Honestly you're better off parking somewhere 2 suburbs away and getting a train or bus in, unless you've got something mega bulky to lug home.

mary and margaret and alice streets are usually pretty decent for free parks. myer center offers $4 parking if you see a movie, i think it's reasonably cheap otherwise.
there's also festival parking on charlotte street but i think that's pretty exxy. |

Phar, Whenever iv gone in on the weekend iv used King George Square carpark. If never been in over 5 hours but its meant to be $8 for the whole day. The front of it is under reno's atm so it looks like a hole in the wall but it is open and it is cheap.
