I had an old speedtouch 536 modem and experienced many disconnection throughout the day and found i had a back to base alarm installed with no filter with i thought was the problem. Disconnected the alarm and drop outs still occur. Put up with drop outs for a few months now and decided it was time to get a new modem. I now have the Linksys WAG200G and am still dropping out. I don't have a phone connected and am now looking to replace the wiring from the out side box to the wall socket. The modem and wiring is isolated from any noise emitting devices and don't know what more I can do? Drop outs are really frustrating and have witnessed 3 since opening browser and writing this. Any suggestions before I run some new telephony cable? |

having worked on a dsl help line these were among the top reasons for s*** going wrong
first of all line faults, only your isp/phone company can check this so once you've ruled everything else out give it a go second was stupid people running no line filter, or a line filter only on the modem - you need them on *every* line that has a cord plugged into it third is something which is so stupid i almost dare not suggest this but you would be surprised how often it happens line filters have LINE - PHONE - DSL people *frequently* f*** this up, LINE is the wall, dsl is your modem and if you can borrow another modem give it a try /obvious reply |

call your isp and get them to test the line? yep test to socket also try plugging modem into the primary phone socket in your house to isolate any internal wiring issue (usually near kitchen afaik) you should know where it is. Is the modem plugging into a router? because if so it's likely to be a setting eg heartbeat request or wrong wan connection type. |

I upgraded to adsl2+ about the same time as the new modem. The Lynksys modem I got didnt come with a filter so i used the one i previously had which apparently does not support adsl2/2+.... This may be the problem. I have the C10245E
