Topic: Simple POP3 mail browsers?

Anyone got any recommendations? I used to use mailwasher but the new version seems to crash at weird times; it works but it's not really as useful as it should be.

Just after a client-side Windows app I can use to browse the mail sitting on the mail server. I could use Thunderbird and POP the mail but leave it on the server but I'd rather a simple app to just browse it by subject directly off server, if such a thing exists.

edit: oh yeh, the funny story about why I need it - I decided to cave and move from Outlook Express (which I have been happily using since like, '98) to Outlook. Running the mail import now; it's been running for just over 24 hours and it looks like it's alllllllllllllmost halfway done. I've got 6gb of mail. What the f***ing f*** is it doing to it?

Not really a real solution but I guess you could use Gmail to fetch and scrubbed your emails from your actual POP3, then use your mail client to download from Gmail via POP3?. Convoluted but definitely works well, I myself just switched all my mailing subscriptions to this model now then I can download the ones I want and get Google spam trap for me.

Of course the implication here is that Google will know all of your secrets like a crush on Bruce Willis and might try to sell you his signed autographs or something like that :).

Also I hope you're using the correct PST file format otherwise you will not be able to have it larger than 2GB....

I haven't changed anything, using O2007 defaults - which better be right, if this f***s up at the end I'm going to cry like you would not believe

Thought of that but yeh, not comfortable w/ going through a 3rd party system

Yeah definitely not for everyone... how about something like http://www.postini.com/ ? Similar sort of idea with Google only you can be sure of privacy etc as big companies use them to scrub emails etc.
