Did it break anyone elses system? It was fine until I restarted (because it said it had to be done) I had dual monitor set up working before and now I can only have one monitor at a time and even then I can't get my crt to work at the correct resolution. Pigin opens up a terminal now and if I close it it kills my buddy list. And I need to re sync my buddies over and over again. And that is all I have found so far. |

I know. I was promised that linux didn't make you reboot like windows, and here I get a msg saying "you need to reboot" so I checked it was okay and was told it was. So i did and my system f***ed up.

linux definitely doesn't make you reboot like windows
but you can't exactly swap kernels without rebooting |

It doesn't take much to bust dual-monitors in Linux, particularly if you're using a CRT and an LCD.

I am, yes. both PC's use nvidia cards, laptop is intel. 1 PC's is dual monitor but I don't Pidgin because I don't like it, much prefer amsn and I'm having no issues with that after the update.

just did an update on my laptop. everything seems fine (nvidia vid card included).
Pidgn seems to be taking slightly longer to startup though... but then i haven't done any tests, so it might just be me at the moment. |

I updated my laptop from 7.10 to 8.04 and the touchpad became completely unusable and destructive!! I even rolled back the touchpad drivers to the version used in 7.10 and it made no difference... that made me sad.

hey kos, what laptop are you using? I think dell's firmware update for a few laptops kinda messed with the touchpads in 8.04. i had the same issue and added "i8042.nomux=1" to the kernel line in grub's menu.lst.
