Yesterday I was transferring a file across the network into the My Documents folder. The comp started spazzing out and being non-responsive, so I clicked start menu, restart.

When it restarted, it gets to the logon screen, I put in my password, then I see the 'My Documents' folder, with a black background.

For some reason explorer isn't starting when I log on to windows :/

I've restarted my computer 3-4 times since then and each time I get the same issues, so how do I fix explorer starting?

nice title!

also

sounds like maybe a ram issue. perhaps a repair install of winblows might be on the cards?

try booting via a linux live cd or bartPE style cd to salvage any data if you're worried.

It hasn't had an effect on my computer at all, it's just kinda irritating having to manually run explorer every time I log on to windows

Eh, I figured it out. Apparently there was something that had changed in the registry that had to be fixed.

Supposedly it's a common problem with vista :/
