Topic: Voice recognition software question

I'm after some good voice recognition software that can do the following:

Recognise simple words and write them down.

Time stamp each word.

It has to be pretty quick too as words may come fast, ~2-3 per second.

Does such software exist?

Vista has pretty impressive voice recognition built in. It does everything you mentioned (though I'm not sure about the timestamps), but I assume you use XP.

DragonDictate Naturally Speaking.

http://www.voicerecognition.com.au/

Last time I checked they didn't have a demo.

I used it years ago and it was OK, but not suitable for transcription. Depending on what sort of words it might be suitable.

The words will be simple, monosyllabic words, eg "HIT; MISS"

Like I said, the problem is the words might come in close succession, and need to be individually timestamped:(

mm, not sure about the timestamping. I don't think succession would matter though.

Hey Obes, that stuff doesn't look very PC-noob friendly... I'm after stuff that I can just installed/plug in and have work. Otherwise, I'd have to pay someone to program what I want.

I've wasted a pretty penny purchasing software that claimed to be for this, and clearly so have a lot of big companies trying to save on their call centre costs. It has all been a big failure.

What I linked isn't overly useful for what you need. But that is the phrase you are after, that or Automatic Speech Recognition Logging.

dudes - Idol made a point here.

I've looked high and low to find voice recog software to accompany our security cam software (for subtitling) and no such thing exists yet.

many claim to, but you have to check out demos from random sources to see that they all need to be 'trained' for each user, and even then the user must speak at a speed, tone, and consistancy that the software can understand.

eventually it'll get better, but that's along way off

we use dragondictate at work and tend not to have many complaints about it.

in saying that i logged a test call saying "oh noes dragawns are attack teh servis send ninjas" and the server guys called up thinking that dragondictate was f***ing s*** up
