if i registered katnotpostyear.org would you not post for a year? it'd be a good investment imo and you'd probably abide by it.

I'm in, though I am skeptical about the level of involvement with only ~2200 people registered at this stage, how long's it been open ?

Nope

My modem died on Monday night but luckily an optus subby was able to come out Tuesday lunchtime. That was the worst 13 hours of my life having no net.

If every government, financial, military, etc.. institution shuts down all of their computer equipment for one day, I will too.

I hardly used my PC at home anyway so I don't see why not. But I won't turn it off.

I only recently got my computer fixed after 7 weeks of downtime so I'd say I've racked up my points.

So f*** that.

First I was afraid

I was petrified

Kept thinking I could never live

without you by my side

But I spent so many nights

thinking how I found porn

I grew strong

I learned how to spank my dong

and so you're back

from outer space

I just walked in to find you here

with that sad look upon your face

I should have changed my stupid password

If I had known for just one second

you'd be back to bother me

I went down to Melbourne for a couple of months and stayed with a cave man friend of mine who had no net and didn't touch a computer once during that time. You get over it and find other s*** to do.

When i moved into my place a few years ago, the TV reception was useless and there was no internet. It also took me a week or 2 to carry all my stuff over from last place.

So i had about a month or so with no TV, no internet and none of my books or lego.

So i just went out every night or had friends over drinking.

I can go without a PC for a long period of time without a problem, except for 1 thing. I hate knowing that i don't know something so it used to piss me off i could not just look up some actor or question on Google and get it out of my head. Luckily now i have my PDA with me always so can use that to access internet.

Is it just me, or does a computer feel pretty useless when it is not connected to the Internet. Apart from watching tv shows and movies on it, what else is it good for. (I don't really play games)

I agree. A little while back when my router broke, and I couldn't get on the net, I realised just how much I use the internet. As you said, every time I'd be wondering about something (an actor, something I heard on TV, etc.), I'd go to check it out on the net, only to realise I couldn't. It s*** me off. I pretty much stopped using my computer completely until I got the new router.

I could easily do it. Let's all meet up for a go-kart session or something :)
I shut down my PC every night anyway, it's only on for like 6 hours a day usually.
p.s. I have a car to pull to pieces again to find an oil leak so that'll keep me occupied.

just cover the leaky part in silicone, that'll fix your problem. Mine however seems to be a gearbox oil seal that requires pulling half the car apart to get to http://users.bigpond.net.au/ritsuko/emoticons/argh.gif and possibly a new CV (makes a noise)

Mine's a gearbox oil seal too, the mechs noticed this when they were replacing my clutch and noticed there was a lot of oil built up, making the clutch slip and wear away etc buuut my gearbox is starting to go to s*** to so they said it'd be $1700 to replace it all

Okay, well, that was only half truthful. I'm replacing the clutch but not the gearbox. It's a suzuki baleno, and it's costing me a few thousand here and there every few months, so, it's gotta go.
