Ive got a Pioneer BD-Rom drive and it came with PowerDVD 7.3 but Ive just hired out a few movies and i cant play the Simpsons movie coz its Region B encoded which is fine since thats Oceania but I can't change the option in PowerDVDs settings. Its got the option to change region, with '5' remaining changes but its set to Region A (america etc) and all the controls are grayed out so I can't actually change it. I've googled and googled to find no solutions.
WTF is wrong with this s***. I buy a BD-ROM drive and PowerDVD runs as Region A??!?! I'm not in f***ing america u stupid program. Apparently Help thinks i need some addin or feature to be able to change the region. This is why region coding sucks monkey testicles. |

That sucks! I'd try other software and see if the same issue occurs. Did you buy the drive in Australia?

Well actually its got nothing to do with the drive itself since bluray on PCs is region locked through software.

Just use AnyDVD and that will automatically unlock s*** when you put the disc in the PC.

Apparently Blu-Ray was the better format over HD DVD. Apparently.

well actually apparently powerdvd should let me change the region. This really has nothing to do with bluray. Its simply the fact that this apparently super duper software won't let me do something even it itself reckons I should be to do.

It has everything to do with Blu-ray
Regionalisation is a crock of s***. Your problem is caused by an artificially introduced marketing constraint. |

No.
The reason that I can't play Region B DVDs is down to the fact that for some f***ed reason, my version PowerDVD has disabled changing of the Region code. I really dont care about region coding apart from the fact that the software I use to play them should have defaulted to A or let me change it. |

The reason you can't play it is because Blu Ray is gay.
Isn't the region set in the driver firmware? That's how it is with DVD drives. Look in the device properties. |

The disc is encoded for a specific region but the region locking is done through the software.
The Blu-ray supported playback software manages that region code in computer instead of the BD drive. So despite Region coding being a pain in the ass right now, the fault is all Cyberlink... |

Perhaps you should have actually said that it's a Blu Ray drive/movie?

Perhaps you should have actually said that it's a Blu Ray drive/movie? I think the fact that the question was titled: "Title: Region Code BD-ROM:" was sufficient to indicate Blu-Ray DRM gayness. |

Yes, but they would be sorting through that many emails per day, that they probably only skim through them. That, and I'll bet that very few of them are related to Blu Ray. I reckon better results would have come from actually writing 'BLU RAY' in there at least once.
