Topic: DivX/XviD Creation Tool?

It's been a long time since i have done any divx-ing, and back in the day the only tool to use was dr divx, which used to take about 5 or 6 hours on my old Athlon 2000+.

What tools are used today for DivX/Xvid creation? I want a point and click approach, just find the files for encoding and set the target output size, and go from there.

Recommendations please.

MediaCoder is the only program I ever use for transcoding video.

i believe AutoGK is the "industry" standard

ffmpeg is a nice commandline version which is incredibly powerful for scripting

MediaCoder for Windows, HandBrake for Mac. iSquint for converting TV eps to iPod format because it's just so much simpler than HandBrake.

FYI Handbrake is available for Windows too, but as far as I know, Handbrake is limited to ripping DVDs, so you can't just load up an existing file and convert it.

xvid4psp is pretty powerfull and does lots of other stuff other than h.264 encoding for psp. Definitely does xvid / divx.

I use mediacoder for transcoding stuff, it's mainly good for batch processing. Not so point and clicky is virtualdub + ffdshow, you can control everything in there from bitrate or quantitizer value to the audio offset.
