Topic: forum suggestion thread link?

Where's the thread where we could post forum bugs/suggestions hiding? I remember it being somewhere in one of the other sub forum things but buggered if I can find it.

Failing one existing anymore I propose a checkbox next to the post reply/topic button that stops the autoparsing of urls so we can post things with fullstops in without it turning into a url automagically.

the magic url parsing is done, I believe, at render time, not at storage time, so it wouldn't work like that. What did you post w/ a full stop in it that turned into a url?

what we really need to do is just upgrade the regexp that picks up urls.

Well nothing here because I know how to post HTML but for people who don't and post those longass links that have commas in them that don't parse properly having a "do not parse urls" option and probably having it checked by default would eliminate only half the url being turned into a hyperlink. I know the URL posting thingy is over there --->> in the post box but sometimes people (noobs/heardy :p) don't use or see it. :)

p.s. revive the qgl private forum already with some spoot heardy

im sure that parsing could be done better cos i dont think anyone is posting links ending in numbers followed by commas, directly followed by numers

so i searched for the number 88 on google using the following link: google.com/serach?q=88,69 is a good number. whoops forgot to put space between comma and 69, oh well

i don't see any reason why news.com.au links cant be parsed properly

here's a tip: check the php manual for urlencode()'s purpose - it's not for finding URL's in strings

like trog said, they just need to make the regex better

There is no reason they can't, just need to update the regexp that detects them. I tried it a while back but failed ; the magic that runs this forum is sometimes beyond me.

I spose the other reason is that commas have no place in urls

why not just have the same handy dandy button that BB forums have for posting links/pics/your mum/utube/etc/etc/etc

sure - you're making people stupider.. but that's happening with or without your input
