New as a commerical release.
Think its been in beta for about 3 years and in production for 6.

Interesting but lacks ninjas.

Was part of the open beta.. wasn't bad, but seemed a little limited in terms of character scope and progression :(

This should not be out of beta... the concept is okay but its far from polished and theres too many annoying bugs.

I played in beta, the battles got far too repetitive for my liking. Avatar combat was terrible.

I played it for less than 24 hours and ship combat was already repetitive, not to mention slow and boring. Melee fighting on foot was a complete and utter joke. Although I did like being able to pull out a pirate pistol and shoot them in the face when they only had a cutlass.

There doesn't seem to be any clear goals or structure to me... just float around and attack random s*** till you level up and get a slightly bigger boat with more guns.

Don't do it Ross MMO's are gay. Oh and Boba is a GM so he'll just spawn whales on you then have his way with your scurvy corpse.

I've been playing Eve for a year now. At the begginning you'll just be doing missions, getting your learning skills up and getting the hang of the game.
Once you've got a Battleship doing level 4 missions or ratting and you're in a corp/alliance the fun really starts - though it depends what you want to do.
Eve is incredibly deep I'll say that much.

The 5th alliance tournament for Eve is currently running so if you want to watch some competive PvP combat of what you can expect to see, then head here:

One of my mates plays eve and after pirates really licked balls I decided to grab the client and give it a shot with the 14 day free trial.

Its a pretty steep learning curve to start as it rather complex, however its been way more interesting than pirates so far imo.

EVE is the only MMO I've ever even been remotely interested in playing; I feel like I should one day give it a go but just can't get over the stigma that MMOs turn you into a loser (no offense to the losers here that play MMOs)

Well one of Eve's strong points is that your character progresses when you're offline. A characters skills is what determines what a player can use and these keep traning if you're logged off.

get your own thread!

eve is just as gay as any mmo except your skills level while you're offline, but you still need to grind for the cash for better ships as your skill improve so you're still putting in the same amount of time as any other mmo

I played eve, got the s***s with the afk flying for hours between missions. I feel kinda bad, my friend has been playing since release and gave me a s***ton of credits then I quit.
