Im upgrading to a adsl2+ kit and I currently have a setup of 3 comps conected to 10/100 switch with that connected to the standard 1 port adsl router.

I want adsl2+ router and 1000mbps switch should i get this or a 4port adsl router and forgets the switch?

if its just 3 computers just get the 4-port router. you can always add your dumb switch later on if you need more ports. you can get gigabit routers these days, most with 802.11n wireless too.

Is there any real gain from 100M to 1G? from what i noticed most of the bottleneck is from the HD, this was 3 / 4 years ago when 7200 rpm was main stream and gigabit just sort of came out.

about 4x times better.

I guess it only really matters when you're at a lan backing up some home made videos and linux isos for new friends

i often swap finished torrents between my PC and my flatmates, gigabit is awesome for it, very much faster.
