Man. Our QGL team is a little pissed tonight. We played a team called U Fail (UF) who had rcon a kept resetting the server, kicked us all, restarted the server so as to get a better cap time, and as per the pic below, spammed us under the grates with pipe bombs.
Poor form, kick the f***ers off the ladder. http://mongie.com/ulthumbs/rgh1203940097r.jpg |

showing the demo to GA admins and disputing the result would probably work better than posting here.

Next time something like that happens, record a little and just quit. Go through the GA stuffs and they'll be put out of the match.
The longer you try and get a game from them the more you get pissed off so it is just easier to do quick record, quit and sink a few beers instead. :D |

Starting to get a bit sick of the ladder tbh... theres too many e-pro wannabe school kiddy clans that take it overly seriously.
We've been absolutely schooled by a few clans (hyphen and maddogz - whom neither have lost a match yet) but they were still friendly enough about it. |

Come on, if your playing in a ladder you have to expect there will be people in it to win it where winning is one of their current top priorities in life. Ahh the days of being in school and having nothing much else to do.
I remember many a day where that assignment due in at the end of the week was left untill Friday lunch time, all in the name of Team Fortress and Quake CTF o and civilization ehehe. |

If you want to go pro you can compete with those hardcore types, but if you want to take it more easily you'll just drift down the ladder until you get people that are around your level. Of course there's always gonna be tools that make it painful, just like IRL sports, but normally it should be a relatively decent way to play |

I think 8v8 is a really difficult and frustrating format to play in.
The slightest mistakes or accidents make or break the rest of the game because the maps aren't typically designed for just 8 players/team. The game really depends highly on full teamwork and everyone doing the right thing at the right times this only comes with playing as a team every day, not just once a week. There's also too much emphasis on ubercharges. For instance, if you're defending and you don't have enough medics you will get steamrolled if the attackers use their ubers well. Then there's crits, just to make it more frustrating, some games you won't get a single crit shot but you'll be killed by dozens of them. While other days you will be topping the scoreboard on pub sometimes getting 3-4 crits in a row. This unbalanced gameplay makes the game dificult to be properly competitive. It would be interesting to see some kind of crit log from a game, just to find out how many crits a winning team gets over the losing team. Valve have said that crits are there as rewards for players with high scores and to keep the game moving forward. If this is true, whoever wins the first match is most likely going to steamroll the 2nd and 3rd rounds with the crits they keep getting. While the other team spend the whole game respawning and running out of the spawn one at a time to get raped by more crits and a 2nd uber rush.. |

Valve made it that way so the better team has a higher chance at winning... trying to stop the s***ty stalemate that happens a fair bit. |

is it still the magical system, or have they started to use a real league ranking system?

you'll find he probably didn't understand the commands properly and noobed them, but as for pipe bombs through door, that's an exploit and instaban...

Stupid kid was playing around with rcon too much... He knew how to use it, but felt he needed to muck around and thus ruined the match.

Man those kids in the other clan are just tools, I think I'd rather forfeit matches against clans like that than put up with the s***e. That said most the clans we've played against have been pretty good, no excess chat and just get down to business. Toll is right we should have just quit out instead of persisting with the game.
Maybe I'm getting too old to playing online games against school kids, my 7 year old doesn't carry on like these guys, he wouldn't be game to. |

Out of all the clan matches I played I can't say I ever had a problem with any of the teams on the GA ladder.

When we played them (back when we were Physical Damage), we had to put up with basically the same crap. We got to about 6-0 on cp_well at which point they demanded a restart, saying that a random had infiltrated their team and was spamming voice. We kept playing, they eventually restarted the server. None of us rejoined and we won the dispute, giving them a forfeit. I'd say your dispute will result in them being kicked from the ladder.
When you are up against stuff like that, the best thing to do is not back down. Follow the rules set out, do nothing wrong, and be awarded the win. Good to see you didn't do anything silly and will more than likely be rewarded for it. last edited by slyin at 23:44:39 26/Feb/08 |
