What's a good quick little program that will convert all your photos to a smaller size in just 1 click.... eg taken at 7.1 megapixels and want to convert it down to 5.1 or 3.1 or web etc...
free program |

sure it's more than one mouse click, but you went to the trouble to type out that post so i'm sure you can handle a few more clicks :D |

I use IrfanView; its a little more fiddly than what you want but its batch processing options give you awesome control over everything.
this might also help, my original post about how to make thumbnails easily using imagemagick. It can easily be changed into a batch file (or group of batch files) to resize images to whatever dimension(s) you want. |

i think there is a windows powertool that will convert it to a smaller rez(i forget the dimentions but i wouldn't expect anything over 1MP) or something, probably not with the fidelity that photoshop batch would have. but it may work depending on what you need to do.

photoshop batch conversion I know Photoshop is pretty much the industry standard, but theirs has to be the worst JPEG export filter/processor available. The quality and size of JPEGs created from it, and the level of control, it's just abysmal. Compare it to the JPEG export functionality of say Corel Photo Paint, which just walks all over it, and I can't understand how the industry accepts it! For batch processing Corel products are scriptable, though it's not free. I just assume you've been asking about Windows programs here, but I've been using a very good app for watermarking and resizing photos for Mac - can't recall the name but if you're interested I can get the name when I get home (it's on my iMac but not my MacBook). |

I used to use trogs imagemagick thing until I discovered the MS image resizer power toy. If you're still using XP use that it's way faster than imagemagick, at least it was on my PC.
