Topic: For those who would ignore Scientology

An interesting insight into how dangerous this cult really is has been posted on www.digg.com. For those of you who would ignore this cult and be baffled as to why there are so many protests going on and wars being waged against the Church, read what this person has written. Religious tolerance is one thing, tolerance of criminals is another.

Link: Digg.com

In the comments section, read the post by Chaddles.

Extract:
But when I next decided to expose a then relatively unknown organization called Scientology (and the related Dianetics) I ended up arrested, facing 15 years in jail, had 19 lawsuits filed against me all over the world by Scientology, was the almost victim of a near murder, was the subject of 5 disgusting anonymous smear letters sent to my family and neighbors about me, and endured constant and continual harassment for almost 15 years.

And so you know, I have read a fair few of these stories and have watched videos on the subject and they all tell a similar story. And when you watch how scientologists react to people outside of the church who don't want to join, it's very easy to believe that they would be more than capable of this.

I read something on Scientology ages ago, about the son of Hubbard? who was a pretty high up dude, and some of the s*** that he said/did was pretty f***ed up.

if ever there was a reason to create sub-forums on QGL it would great to gather up all the scientology threads and place them somewhere for only people that care.

still.. loony scientologists haven't had a holy war yet... so they are still way behind most other wacky religions in the body count. :D they sucker fools for thier cash & harrass the non-believers.. maybe they are a real religion after all! heh.

Off topic but something to do with cults. This site contains Jim Jones giving a speech before everyone drank the grape flava-aid. Quite spooky to see the level that people are able to be brainwashed (sort of like fubar and that other amway s***kunt)

I remember that. they interviewed him in playboy magazine years ago that someone chucked up on the net. it was linked here on qgl iirc. can't remember the thread topic at the time though. might have been a derail

For me, believing any of this ends right with the fact that this hubbard guy was a bloody science fiction writer. hello? do you need any more hints as to the reality of any of this? Also what I find totaly hilarious is that Charles Manson himself took 150 hours or more of classes and found it TOO CRAZY to become any part of. As someone on digg said "That's like Richard Simmons telling you that you're too gay"

Charles manson also had a problem with not killing people.

clearly the only way to solve this problem is to have Michael Moore make a documentary about it

Your comment is limp and easily refuted.

a) Science fiction writers are just as capable of having potentially good thoughts about realistic topics as anyone else. L Ron's problem is he was crazy as a loon, not that he was a science fiction writer.

b) It could arguably be assumed that Charles Manson considers normal society "TOO CRAZY" to become a part of. This has no merit.

c) I would probably consider Richard Simmons to be a reputable authority on someone being too gay. It takes one to know one. Your metaphor is about as valid as a train ticket from 1939.

This isn't a defense of scientology, i personally think its a retarded and in some ways dangerous scam. But it is stupid posts like this one that are used as propaganda for "how stupid the arguments against scientology are". Do the world a favour and shut up.

science comes from scientology, you see newton and einstein were scientologists, so they decided to call the work they did: scientes (which later became science).

i had a quick look at scientology with my friends just out of curiosity. Along the way i met an Operating Thenat level III he said "we have a paladin, druid, shaman and a priest and we're looking for a healer, lvl VIII"

especially if a lvl III pally or drood is tanking.

And really... if you've got a drood, shammy and priest i think you'd be more looking for dps. Of course it doesn't sound as good to say "we have a warrior and a lot of rogues".

"Religion easily has the best bulls*** story of all time. Think about it. Religion has convinced people that there’s an invisible man…living in the sky. Who watches everything you do every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a list of ten specific things he doesn’t want you to do. And if you do any of these things, he will send you to a special place, of burning and fire and smoke and torture and anguish for you to live forever, and suffer, and burn, and scream, until the end of time. But he loves you. He loves you. He loves you and he needs money."

haha, if i had known the protests were gonna be like this, i would have gone!

http://deathboy.livejournal.com/1082404.html

One guy in a full-on V outfit made an announcement in a very dull and proper fashion that none of us could hear properly. We were busy heckling him (anonymous has no problem with criticising anonymous), when he reaches the end of his speech and presses play on a boombox.

RICK ASTLEY: NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP

The crowd went f***ing wild.

500 people rick-rolling the UK Scientology head office. It was at this point I saw the corners of the cops' mouths twitch into smiles as they realised it was ok: we were from the internets.

Save us, Anonymous!

Yeah pretty scary stuff. We can ignore the major religions most of the time because they're fairly placid (they already have the power they want). Scientology doesn't seem to want to stop at anything, though. We have to do something.
