agalloch, arcturus or nevermore

in flames should have quit after the jester race...their last 3 albums have been especially awful

dream theater are obviously incredibly talented but their music has never really interested me. plus james labrie's voice is annoying

I've been into DT for 12 years, ever since I heard Space Dye Vest back in early primary school I've been hooked and never has a band continually impressed me to this very day.

Finally after all this time they will be playing the Riverstage on Friday :)

Also 1 more vid for the thread, I promise :)... just for you Arize, Glass Prison live on Gigantour... the look on Petrucci's face when Portnoy bumps up the BPM and he has to do the intro lead, nearly unhuman.

Couldn't say really. I've got about 5 equally favourite bands.
  • Incubus
  • Rush
  • Red Hot Chili Peppers
  • Tonic
  • Alien Ant Farm

I've had lots but over time, they just went downhill (ie live, everclear)

So you've gotta go back to the classics...

AC/DC are the best band in the world.

Clearly the Bon Scott days were the high point but I like Brian Johnson too.

"Back in Black" is hands down one of the best rock albums ever made.

haha chub since watching the Dream theater videos again im back onto them >.< lol

In no particular order I'd have to say for all time favourites:
Rush (probably first in the order if it came to it)
Metallica (I found Load to be probably the most fun to play the guitar along to more so than any other album I'ev tried to play)
Pink Floyd (Roger Waters' solo stuff as well)
Led Zeppelin
Foo Fighters
Powderfinger.

Mostly considered mainstream and clichéd, but I really don't care what other people think as long as I enjoy it.
I still enjoy all of them thoroughly.

Right now I'm enjoying:
No band is really grabbing my attention right now and it's s***ting me. I have an unfortunate dissatisfaction with the current offerings.

That's history now... James' vocals are soo powerful and pitch perfect now. I agree, originally he was a weak point in the band, but you should really check out there latest concert DVD "Score" to see how much James has improved.

Ok, one more vid... Under a glass moon @ Score :)

chub. you got the album train of thought?

also are they having a aus tour if so when is it?

holy s*** chub you are right hes sounds f***ing amazing now. i was watching some of his old onese where it must have been recent to his vocal issues, cause he didn't sound anywhere near as good, as he does now. nice video chub

If I were to mention any of my favorite bands or artists here, I'd no doubt be bashed for the next four pages of a thread destined to die in another two, and it forever bought up as rebuttals to arguments :)

I'll give you a hint - my rated 5 stars and most recently played playlists on my iPod have tracks from the following artists (and by no means limited to these):
Ok Go
Richard Clayderman
Meat Loaf
Mika
Savage Garden
The Corrs
Fall Out Boy
Hoobastank
Nickelback
Camille Saint-Saens
Green Day
Savage Garden
Queen
Celine Dion
Roxette

Are we getting the picture yet?
I will hint that my all-time favorite is in the above list, however (I also realise that a few are artists not bands, but nethertheless...).

It took a little while to get a video that represented the event best. The ones from up the front were, understandably, all over the place and with bad audio.

I was up the front too. Absolutely mental. Best fun ever.

rise against, killswitch engage, foo fighters, the living end... honourable mentions would go to parkway drive, metallica, rhcp, in flames... in the last couple of years i've been stuck in a phase involving these sort of bands, story of the year, thrice, etc. even funeral for a friend, as whiney as they are, started off with really interesting drum patterns and riffs.

all time favourite song would probably go to Everlong. funnily enough, Everchanging by rise against is probably in a close 2nd.

and of course all the usual classic rock bands go without saying.
